Atlanta? Doable IMO. You need to be at the airport by 7. Game with extra time and shootout will be over at 6. Marta is 30 minutes from the stadium to the airport. I went to a game in Atlanta and Marta was efficient and quick. I think I was on the train within 20 minutes of the game ending.
Got it. Do you (or anyone else with experience flying out of ATL) have a sense of delay likelihoods? My wife has a shift at the hospital that night so if it gets delayed by >20-30 mins she’ll end up missing it, otherwise we’d just book a flight Thursday morning. Looks like there’s potential thunderstorms tomorrow so I’m a bit concerned about that. Yes I know this is crazy
I see that the cheapest tickets available for the third-place match are like $1300. Who would pay that for a postseason friendly featuring none of the top stars? The world has gone mad!
I'm on a similar boat but even worse, my return flight is at 7pm, which I should leave the airport by 5:15, no more than that (and I dont even have a ticket, I will have to cancel this trip). My return flight has been late at least by an hour in the last couple of days, check your return flight on flightradar24 how late usually leave, and check the upcoming aircraft they will use.
Are you flying international or checking a bag? This idea that you have to arrive at the airport hours before you go is wrong. Like for a domestic flight in Atlanta, boarding won't even start until 30 minutes before scheduled takeoff. TSA wait times for regular are often under 15 minutes and TSA precheck is under 5.
Is Domestic, my return is 7pm from ATL to MIA. M102 kick off is 3pm, let says without extra time is done around 5pm, I have to rush to get out of the stadium, walk to MARTA (let says at least 15 min), then MARTA to ATL Ariport. I dont travel with bags, just backpack and I do have TSA, but keep mind you need to walk/run from Marta Station to TSA, pass TSA then to the gate. AA boarding start 35~40 minutes before (sometimes even before), but the last call is always at T15 (15 minutes before departure) and if you arrive after that, they will probably will give aways your seats to those who are standby, because door closes at T10 (6:50pm), they have 5 minutes or less to process those standby or last minute complimentary upgrades (I know how that works). I never arrive 3 hours before, not even on international, always last minute but it depends, if Is domestic and I have carry on, I can not board last because most of the time they will force you to check your carry on because the plane is full.
It's all over for us now. Today was our sixth and final game, and what a note to end it on. See y'all in four years hopefully!
Good luck with those attempting both Semis - we decided to watch the game in the Fort Worth Stock yards today and on way to Atlanta on red eye tomorrow first thing. Had thought to skip Dallas and drive to Atlanta but car drop off charges impossible. Been watching the resale sites like a hawk... Impossible to predict - will nab 2 somehow and complete game 5. England v Argentina a game I have never seen.
FIFA released some more tickets for the final. there are about 1k cat 1 and about 1k cat 2, plus about 100 cat 3 tickets.
Is it historically accurate that none of the top players partake in the 3rd place game? If it's France vs. Argentina I can see that being a huge draw tbh.
It is frustrating to me seeing the tickets on resale sites still well above FV when there are cheaper tickets available directly from FIFA. I have to wonder what is the thinking behind that, or perhaps no one is paying attention. For example the cheapest cat 3/4 tickets are currently over $8k, while there are cat 2 tickets avaialable directly from FIFA for $7380, and there are a lot of CAT 1 tickets behind the goal for $11k, while the cheapest resale CAT 1 tickets are like $12-3k. I don't get it.
I could have justified it, but my wife couldn't! I really wanted to justify the CAT 2 tickets in the second tier but she couldn't wrap her head around those either.
Generally the third place match is unwanted by knocked out teams and used to give squad players a match. I watch as as many WC games as I can but have only ever watched two 3rd Place matches and that was when England played in 1990 and 2018. Treat it as similar to a pre-season exhibition match.
I think it depends on the teams involved. If its a country that's happy to be a semifinalist (Morocco, Uruguay) then I would expect them to play a strong team. If its a big country with a deep squad that somewhat expects their team to be in the final, then I think they play the guys that haven't had much playing time up to this point. All the semifinalists this year are, of course, in the latter group. Though I think Mbappe still starts because he's cares alot about the golden boot. If it was Spain it would have been a full B team for sure.
Also, whichever team loses tonight only has two days off including travel. France only has three days off. Combine that with the massive disappointment of losing in a Semi Final and you cannot expect top level performances. The sports scientists wouldn't want the big stars playing again.
It's because the FIFA Marketplace functionality sucks vs. StubHub, SeatGeek, etc. etc. The general US consumer is very familiar with the re-sale marketplace(s), and they just simply work better and are easier to use/navigate. I sold multiple 4x CAT 1 tickets on StubHub for this WC on StubHub, and both times sold for more $$$ vs. my competition on the FIFA Marketplace. Yes, us here know better, have tools like FIFA Scout, seat side kick website, Discord scanners, etc. etc. BUT, the vast majority of the folk out there don't, and they stick to what they know. That's my 2 cents on the topic. lol
