I don't think costs are the biggest problem. You can keep it in control if you don't want to visit the knock outs. Always difficult in such big countries to plan if you aren't local. This is my fifth WC (6 Euro's). I am going with my son, his first WC. We are Dutch and going to the 3 group matches (fan tickets Netherlands). We also attend Portugal - Congo to see the last dance of Ronaldo as big fans of him. We are making a 2 week roadtrip Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Memphis, Kansas, Dallas. Staying in airbnb's and hotels, always within a few miles of the stadium. All the costs (flights, stays, tickets and car rental) without eating, drinking and gas are 6500 dollars (5500 euros). I know it is a lot of money, but I think it is still reasonable comparing to a normal 2 week roadtrip in the US. I am happy to experience the same kind of trip I made with my dad to the 1994 WC. What a great game it was in Dallas (Netherlands - Brasil). I am looking forward to meet the locals, the fans of the opponents and experience the south of the US. I hope more people will share their positive feelings for the WC or share tips instead of complaining in this thread.
I don't have actual numbers but I think it is England and then, far behind.................... everyone else. Even France in Russia did not have a huge number of fans, until the final at least. In any case, I am still surprised by the huge number of tickets available for many games. Entire sections just one month away. It is not a great look.
I have 5 tickets for the same game in my single account. First I bought 2 tickets in the account and transferred 3 tickets from another account. But I cannot buy more.
Letchkov was the bald dude with the little patch of hair who had the sick header vs Germany. Just watched the highlights... I forgot how good Klinsmann was at diving
New Orleans? I am always looking for tips to eat or places to go to? Any suggestions? I am staying downtown.
I'll be staying at a hotel in Manhattan. Is there any way to travel to MetLife without having to pay the $150 ticket, even if it means walking a bit ?
biggest advise I can give you is make sure you venture to the Uptown/Garden district areas as well. Don't just stay in and around the French Quarter. If you have specific wants and desires for food, send me a DM, I can give you specific recommendations.
England and Germany, as you would expect. I don't really expect any other European nations to have a lot of travelling supporters outside Europe and especially not France. There will be a lot of Scots there as it is so long since they last qualified. Italy and Ireland would have had a lot of American born supporters had they qualified. We have never had FIFA using variable pricing before. That is the cause of the unsold tickets, except for the dreggiest of the dregs. Either they reduce prices or they have lots of empty seats. They will reduce prices because $100 is better than an unsold seat. I'm sure that the people attending will have a great time.
Ok so basically we can have more than 4 in the account and the restriction only applies if you try to purchase more
They reduced it to $105, and there is also the NJ Transit bus for $80. Those are the official options, and I'll leave it to others to suggest unofficial ways.
