I think I'm going to bite the bullet on the shuttle at least for a couple of games. They're non refundable and I assume non transferable, so gotta make sure about what I decide to do... I'm unfortunately going by myself and the one day I could have someone reliable take me to the stadium... he won't be available at the time I need him.
I just logged in and saw they are now promoting the hospitality with a big logo under every LMS game which is once again the living proof they ain't selling those for good for most games...all those tickets will be probably rebranded into normal cat 1 ticket right before the start of the tournament.... Patience my friends, patience!
This is just abusive on the part of the NJ governor. There's no way the cost is $150 per passenger. Somehow Kansas City can do this for like $15 but in NJ it's 10x's more. Give me a break. It's really making the state look bad.
You will first have to buy a mandatory plastic glass with the FIFA logo on it for a million dollar...but you get to keep it...
I just called the NJ Transit Customer Service line. The transportation website says you will be able to be dropped off at a point just outside of the stadium. I asked the agent whether regular, less expensive buses would be made available to allow you to arrive to that point, without paying $80. She said they're studying that, and to call again in a few weeks and see how the situation is evolving. The other thing I did was email the vendor who's selling the $80 shuttle passes. All sales are final, and there are no exchanges or refunds. However, tickets will be transferable, I assume by forwarding the ticket e-mail that you get.
With four people, I would still hope that Uber will be less than $600. I don't want to think about the post-game pickup chaos, though. One thing about traffic is that it may end up less congested without the normal flow of cars going in to park? Very thin silver linings.
Anyone thinking of taking the NJ shuttle, will you take the shuttle leaving 4 hours before, 3 hours before, etc? Have no idea how long any of this will take. 4 hours would obviously be safe, but could also result in hours hanging out at the stadium.
I mean, I don't know who would pay through the nose for rubbish food. Just eat prior, or bring a sandwich to eat on the train over. Its nice to have a beer or two though. And obviously water is pretty essential. I'm guessing a beer will be over $30; water $11 for 500ml.
Beer has consistently been $20 at stadiums the past few times I've been to them. $30 beer at a minimum. Wouldn't surprise me if they go all way up to $40 to "cOvEr tHe HiGh CoStS"
Inside the stadium it’s all fifa. They set prices. We’ll see how much they wanna gouge us. But Budweiser wants to move plenty of product. 30 is too high
I'm tempted to offer a ride for families for the low low price of $400 round trip. I'll even make sure there is free, cold-water bottles for the return trip.

Don't know about beer, but a 500ml water bottle will definitely be more than $11. I think $15 or maybe $13.50 if they're generous. Soda... $19.50 or $17.50 (lots of ice, little Coke).
I feel bad the way that people going to some venues are being gouged. It's why I circled Atlanta right away and then decided Philly will be easy enough. The places where you just have to go way out of the city aren't going to be fun, but I know that supporters will want to go to these places too. And, unlike the Winter Olympics where you had to use a lot of shuttles, FIFA has way less shame since those shuttles were free.
Agreed. The 1994 World Cup was so much better than this incoming dumpster fire money grab. The Rose Bowl was such a great venue for a semifinal and the final. FIFA could have made this another great World Cup by just following the 1994 formula.
Will be interesting to see what the announcement of $150 train fares does to ticket prices on the FIFA site for the NJ venue. If prices don’t move downward, then we absolutely know something funny is happening.
