Small drop this morning with some in demand games. No KO rounds. Brazil vs Scotland, Spain vs Uruguay, Argentina vs Austria, and Portugal vs Colombia all showing as available, but the bull shit "Front Row" category. Only game I was able to cart was Spain vs Uruguay for $2,300 each. LOL!
https://bsky.app/profile/theathleticfc.bsky.social/post/3mjhnxyeof22s Am going to Atlanta for one match already as well as one in Vancouver. I like to watch matches before and after the games I attend. To that end am going to prioritise matches accessible to downtown so another in Atlanta is the priority. Logistics is one thing but the idea of being gouged on public transport is really annoying.
Holy smokes, this is absolutely insane. WTF!!! I am heading to MetLife from NJ itself, I am now worried the buses and NJ Transit trains will have their prices jacked up regardless too.
I have tickets to multiple games, as do a lot of us here. I know this is not a forum to be negative, or to give into the basic "boycott!" discourse going on around the internet. But, it's hard not see a news like this ($100 return trip between NYC Penn and MetLife) and not think, "Dang, this might turn out to be the worst World Cup ever" EDIT: on top of the Boston $80 train tickets, and all the parking shenanigans.
Reading this I'm left with the punchline of an old joke that says 'at least kiss me when you're screwing me'
Just looked. There are ELEVEN matches with Cat 1 prices below face and FOURTEEN with Cat 2 prices below. This constant battering with negative news cant be helping. I cant recall the last time some news came out that made me think 'That's good'. If you own a restaurant or hotel downtown you must be tearing your heart. They cant be getting last minute people wanting to attend. I dont know of anyone.
Good grief! Such a far cry from Qatar where public transport was free and they were putting on free shuttle buses between the city centre and stadiums as well as the cruise terminal and fan camps. Thank God the stadium in Toronto looks to be well served by metro while I managed to get a hotel in Vancouver across the street from the stadium.
$95 bus fares to go with the $80 train tickets for Foxboro!!! https://www.wcvb.com/article/world-cup-bus-shuttle-fifa-foxborough-massachusetts-95-dollars/71014265
The hits won't stop coming! Reading through The Athletic's article on NJ, as well as various other articles about Boston (the transportation shenanigans, the Foxboro entertainment fee debacle), and all the stuff around the fan zones, I can't help but think that either the host cities NEVER wanted to host any of this in the first place, or they longer want to because of the costs and the fact that FIFA pays for nothing and keeps everything. And now they're shifting over the massive costs to the people attending games!
US Soccer just sent an insiders email "opportunity" to buy tickets from them for the USA Paraguay game.... With a 10% fee for using their concierge ticketing system... Just for kicks, I put in 2 tickets for Cat1...and without even knowing where the seats will be, I'm being offered a great deal of just over $3k per ticket! Lucky me! LMAO
When will FIFA admit defeat and lower the prices for that game? Dynamic pricing is supposed to go both directions!
World Cup fans facing $100 round-trip journeys to MetLife this summer, reports | amNewYork NJ Transit plans to charge more than $100 for round-trip rail journeys to MetLife Stadium for all eight World Cup games set to be hosted at the venue this summer, according to reports.
Chrome extension. During the CWC RTB sales period. The FIFA rep told us "Americans buy tickets to events late". The late surge in sales never materialized for CWC. But FIFA may be planning a massive marketing campaign and expecting a surge in sales (which wont happen at these prices). They'll end up lowering prices a few days before kickoff. Hold the line everyone!
I hold 2 supporter tickets for M4. They're currently in 300s but I expect to be moved to 200s or perhaps 100s. Low sales will force FIFA to bring us to the lower bowls to try to save face.
Does it include canapes and cocktails? FMD the level of greed and gouging keeps getting worse. Any big event in Melbourne F1, Australian Open tennis, Women's WC a few years ago etc usually includes free public transport to the venue.
The good news is that gate-jumping/fare dodging is a deeply entrenched cultural pastime in New York City.
I paid $225 for a parking pass at American Dream for the Brazil-Morocco match, outrageous like 5x's what I would expect to pay, but I went ahead and did it because immediately after the game I'm driving to Philadelphia to stay at a hotel before the match there the next day. Now I'm glad I did because they aren't offering any spaces in the enormous MetLife parking lot, and they're charging $100 per person for the train so with family of 5 going to the game I'm actually SAVING MONEY BY PAYING $225 TO PARK. Insane.
Got the same... "you can buy up to 4 more supporters section tickets for M4". Obviously struggling to sell. Fifa gave a ton of inventory back to USSoccer to try to get rid of. Give me a Taylor Swift opening performance and make it worth it.
