Good, clearly people were not willing to pay ridiculous amount of money for some shit food and a few bad beers. This means demand is not as strong as they try to make us believe.
So a repeat of CWC where they just have cat3's in better spots I'm assuming. A guy I know from here in Guadalajara bought cat 2 tickets for the San Francisco and Houston games purely for trying to resell, he hasn't sold any from what I can see but he's genuinely thinking he can sell the SF games for $600 each which is just dumb, he's selling a Portugal and Germany game in Houston for the equivalent of $900 usd, he's going to have a very sad wake up call when he sells them for what he paid for (if he's lucky)
You're surely not suggested that the ticket applications were not over half a billion in the last round?
I wouldn't go that far. I think the consensus has always been that there would be unsold hospitality that would make its way to the last minute sales phase as Cat 1 inventory.
That number on its own is completely meaningless. I'd like to see a breakdown of demand for each game, for example.
I mean Gianni did say that 77 games had more than 1M ticket requests. I think a lot of us would like to think that for the remainder 27, number of tickets demanded was much lower than number of tickets available. In reality, among those 27, there's probably some for which tickets demanded was close to total tickets available (but not quite over it), mixed in with those for which demand was very, very low.
He also did say all the tickets were sold when, within a week, have another sales round. I judge FIFA o what they do and this hospitality thing is a clear step.
I know what you mean, I also don't trust Gianni. But the sudden sales round did come right after his interview where he talked about the 77 games, so in a way, it kinda tracked.
Here’s a theory I have. It’s looks like FIFA Pavilion was the lowest priced Hospitality seats. And from looking at pictures and reading behind the lines, those tickets had a big tent outside of the stadium for getting your food and drink before the match. Once you went inside, there’s no more hospitality. Whereas the higher-level packages appear to give you access to the club facilities inside the stadium. So in cities where FIFA didn’t get enough signups for Pavilion, they decided to shut it down to save the money on the tent outside the stadium. And just upgrade those to the other hospitality levels. Does this make sense?
Makes perfect sense. You only upgrade people to better hospitality when the suite you originally booked them in is no longer cost effective because of the low sales. Is not not a problem for us, though. Am even tempted to make a swing down from Kansas to Houston as it looks like I can be hopeful of tickets there. (Am also tempted by the last Uzbekistan match in Atlanta as they have Khusanov). It is getting real now. They can always sell those tickets in the next few months for Cat1s and there is time for people to make preparations. You cant sell a last ticket to someone with a week to go when the person is not on the same continent (or hemisphere).
agree, consolidation this early can only mean most of the hospitality they've sold and anticipate selling is Pavilion. Interesting FIFA hasn't touted ticket sales lately. Hopefully most of these matches will be at least half the original price in June.
I’m seeing reports from Reddit that people got confirmation emails after submitting their us soccer draw application. Did anybody here get anything? I didn’t, and now I’m worried lol
Nope and I emailed US Soccer support and they confirmed that no email was sent after the application process, only the confirmation page after submitting. So those people must be mistaken
"recieved" -- Nice job, US Soccer. (On the plus side, I guess we know that a human, and not an AI, drafted that.)
Does anyone know when the FCFS ticket sales start? I’m wondering what percentage of the total tickets will be sold FCFS. Probably less than 5%.
