You'd be surprised how many want that match. The players and Bielsa don't see eye-to-eye at the moment. So not sure who's going to decide how to approach a game like that.
This is what will happen. From FIFA's perspective, a lot of people who have tickets will want to resell their tickets if they're bad seats, and buy again for a better seat next time that they can actually control. With FIFA getting the commission fee again.
I think Infantino is definitely not stupid. My main criticism of him is that he lacks imagination (my other criticism is that he seems too excited to be near and suck up to powerful figures, regardless of what they represent e.g., Trump). His only idea to grow the game of football (sorry, USA friends) is to have more tournaments, more matches, at higher prices (determined by sophisticated formulas put together by economists and surely more than a few consultants). Admittedly, maybe there's just nowhere else to go?
Hardcore Fans: "Fifa is not looking to maximize it's profits. They just want to develop the game in poor countries" Fifa: "That is true. That why we decided to cap the maximum price to a reasonable price to avoid abuses"
Wait.. you think spain or uruguay would want to face argentina in round 32?? I doubt that… By the way i have that ticket
People in Uruguay, not Spain. We're not going to win it, so it doesn't really matter if you make it to R32 or R16. Lucky you. That game is going to be very hard to find tickets...
FIFA will obviously allocate the tickets already sold in the worst possible locations. I'm not sure how big a deal that will be as the tickets yet to be sold will generally be returns from sponsors, etc, or from finalising the seating configuration around cameras. Plus unused PMA, especially in later rounds as they know who plays where. Also unsold PMA following the final qualifiers. Surely most people buying tickets have bought 2, 3 or 4 together and will resell together. You can't have more than four in a ticketing account so you're not getting five in a row anyway. Personally I think FIFA expects allocated seating to drive further re-sales. The best seats will sell for much more and that will more than offset reductions for the worst. Eg doubling the price of a $200 seat makes more than halving the cost of a worse located $200 seat. It will also speed up the market. As you say people will not pay top dollar for an unknown seat. They will for good seats and they will pay lower prices for poor seats. FIFA is doing it to maximise their income but it is good for fans to know what they're buying.
I can't believe now that the dust has settled, I am nearly empty handed (thankfully I have tickets to one game - thanks to someone from here, actually IYKYK). In Russia I got a bunch of tickets through the random draw phase, including a R16 and a QF ticket. I then was able to get both the semi final and the final through the FIFA FCFS market (and also thanks to this nifty notification app someone here was selling). I expected to get at least 3-4 games in the random draw phase this time around (I applied to 13) and it STILL blows my mind my grand total was 0 tickets. Hard to believe I must now wait until April to get my hands on more tickets at hopefully reasonable prices...
Why would that be the case? There’s obviously a higher risk and you should do your diligence and trust your instincts, but it is possible to buy tickets from other fans on here, on Facebook, etc. There’s plenty of people who can’t go to a game they have a ticket for. For the Euros 2024 I bought some tickets from people on here and on Facebook (though this time the Facebook groups seem less useful), and yesterday I bought M91 from a guy on that WhatsApp group someone had posted here a few months ago. We had a video call to build trust, he shared his screen and showed me the ticket in his account, and he also named some people who could confirm he’s legit. He even sold the ticket for half the price of what it currently costs on the FIFA platform, because like many here, he also doesn’t believe in making a profit. If you follow those basic diligence rules (or even meet in person if possible), buying directly from other fans is a great and feasible option. edit: … and if you end up at the same match, have a beer together and celebrate a great deal …
Has any one been able to talk to a live agent (i.e., human being) when calling FIFA? When talking to the AI bot, I was able to request an agent. The bot said I would be transferred to another line, and I just need to select the appropriate options to get an agent. Of course, there were no options to talk to an agent - it was all just generic help (e.g., "press 1 for blah blah, press 2 for blah blah" and none of the options were for talking to an agent). I suspect there are no humans manning the phones.
To contradict my last post to some extent, Facebook really seems full of obvious scammers at the moment. I do believe there’s genuine people out there, but probably hard to find. … That being said, see attached two snippets from conversations I had looking for M56. Why would scammers be so stupid and provide a row and seat number (or “sector”…) when those haven’t been assigned yet? Do they just assume their average victim doesn’t know that?
It could be an intentional filtering mechanism - those who reply expressing interest are more likely to be oblivious and thus more likely to fall for the scam.
I havent checked who would uruguay play if they get 1st place.. or best 3rd… but i think the bracket does make a difference
Quick question… if i buy or sell in stub hub.. how do i get my tickets? Since people dont have them yet? To download…might be stupid question just cant figure it out.. and want to make sure i know how , if in april i dont get my tickets i will go the resale way..
Thanks. Do you have the link to the WhatsApp group somewhere in handy? Otherwise I’ll search through this thread. You’ve given me hope!
Try this (not sure I have the technical skill to have copied this correctly): https://chat.whatsapp.com/DhcLWIYoKloJg0hpXlYnrK And hopefully your hope is not resting on that group alone, there haven’t been many tickets offered so far, I was just lucky that M91 was one of them. But my point was more generally, buying from other fans is a real option. Didn’t someone recently start a ticket sale/exchange group on BigSoccer? Does anyone have a link for that at hand?
Thanks! Yeah I’m exploring all sorts of avenue. And also curious as to whether there’s a sale/exchange group around here
Well I was 100% unsuccessful in the previous round of tickets. Anyone know what the best route is to get tickets for the final? Is there a decent chance in the next FCFS round, or will StubHub be my best bet. I’m open to trading my tickets or just buying outright!
Feels to me, FIFA sold most of the tickets as RTBs (rights to buy) to corporations in US. Most tickets will be distributed via RTBs in US. FIFA’s making money off the RTB and the ticket sale. US Soccer selling non-USA match RTBs for a membership fee is crazy. Gianni is a business genius.
