Maybe maximize FOMO so that people without confirmed tickets purchase them sooner (at a premium) in order to finalize their travel plans in advance? Your guess is as good as mine...
My theory is FIFA knows a lot of these matches will come crumbling down in prices. They don't want the free market to tank the floors before the First Come First Served phase in April. After FIFA dumps the last batch of tickets in April; they'll open up the Marketplace. At that point if floors collapse; FIFA already sold everything high.
Is there any chance that gap is to give them time to convert tickets from categories to actual seats assigned? I didn't get any seats through these various lotteries (admittedly I didn't try that hard), so I'm waiting to buy on the secondary market when I can actually see the row and seat numbers. For all the mostly justified complaints about FIFA, I find the secondary market fee of 15% (for buyer and seller) not that outrageous for the value of knowing the seat is legit. It's not like StubHub or whomever don't also charge a fee. Let me reiterate my perspective is I live in the USA but not in a city that has games. I'm kind of blase about tickets because I won't be heartbroken if I don't make it to any games. I hope all of you traveling for this have a great time.
I think a single 15% fee would make sense. Charging both the buyer and the seller 15% though is IMO greedy af.
That’s another theory. But fifa has never actually sold seats (other than the last minute returns). They’ve always sold dynamic categories. dynamic categories allow FiFA the flexibility to add hospitality seats anywhere in the stadium. They’ve always assigned seats in May. The only benefit of doing this now is for the fans. But we’ll see… maybe fifa breaks tradition this time.
There is also an offer for Bank of America credit cards tomorrow, but it is limited to two tickets in total. While the Chase process is clear, the process for Wells Fargo and Bank of America is unclear. Do you know which link we should use?
RBC in Canada is limited to 4 tickets and the code is valid for a one-time use only. I got an access code a few minutes ago. Though I won't be able to log in right away so...
I am hearing Capital One Venture X is having a promotion too?? Is this why so few of us got tickets - a ton of them were given to banks!? Anyways... I've considering the Venture X for a while now. Debating whether to apply between today and 2/12 (which is when I think their promotion goes live). I applied to a Wells Fargo card for tomorrow's promotion, and I have the Chase Sapphire Preferred already. This would be a third hard credit pull lol. It's also $400 annual fee. Ugh! Wish this weren't so fragmented.
I'm hearing this too but I haven't received any email and don't see anything in my account. I've been a Venture X cardholder since they introduced the card years ago.
I received an email, from capital one directly! At 4:56 central today ! But it was confirmed earlier. Is not with capital one, is still the visa program . It begins 02/12 at 12:00 ET.
