Now not appearing. But still close to Cat1 FV. That's if you click top one. If you hit 3rd - there are tickets for 1500!!! So, different windows - different prices! Marketplace features changed much since previous week. And one should refresh - the tickets and prices are changing frequently. As during FCFS. Now M13 doesn't have Limited availability mark. As well as some other matches. So, it changed a lot.
I notice that bit about the resale price mark. I have just checked three matches that had 'initial price' of $745. None of the non-host matches in any of the sales rounds had a Cat 1 price above $700 for a group game. Brings this to mind Gaslight (1944 film) - Wikipedia
Well, much cheaper for sure, 17 tickets would still have added up. WC 2022 comparison: For group stage Cat 1 in Qatar were $220, cat 2 were $165, R16 cat 1 was $ 275, so it would have been: 11 x cat 1 = 2420 4 x cat 2 = 660 2 x R16 cat 1 = 550 Total = $3,630 About 1/3 the price, but of course there was no round of 32 ticket in Qatar. I used R16, so this is not an exact comparison, but it is close. Am I choosing to be gouged on these prices? Yeah, but I guess I suffer from some of the same FOMO others are experiencing. I could have tried to wait it out for all my tickets and see if the prices drop, but i am not sure I have the willpower or nerves for that. But when I come to this thread and read about all the people creating 10, 100s, or more accounts to try to get tickets, it is very hard to have that sort of patience. Still, I hope everyone gets the tickets they want.
Thing is, you could’ve bought Category 3 or even Category 4 tickets in Qatar that would have been as good or better than many Category 1 tickets this time. So you really are paying something like 10X the money for the same seats, and it is ridiculous gouging.
I think there are multiple issues at play and IMO these are the key factors: This will be the most in demand world cup for several reasons I won't get into Every prior world cup, FIFA would not sanction any increase in resale costs. Face value was expensive but reasonable and the "market" driven prices were only available for those willing to risk using an unapproved platform. Obviously, still happened but it was an obstacle. This world cup, not only has FIFA sanctioned marking up prices on resale, but they are owning the process and taking a huge cut (30%). This means FIFA has dramatically increased the ease in which speculators can buy and sell tickets by giving them a legitimate market to work in. FIFA has introduced dynamic pricing that basically has the intention of FIFA selling primary tickets at face value at a price that matches the traditionally very high cost to get tickets on the secondary market. If they do this right, there's no difference between face value and resale value. We know they will never be perfect at dynamic pricing, but this has dramatically reduced the margins for speculative buyers. If M4 is a $2k/ticket game, prior world cups the face value would average maybe $175 and black market would make a killing. Now, the investment needs to be 30% less than market value for it to sell at true value. All this makes me think that we got screwed because real fans never had a chance to buy at reasonable prices. But it also makes me believe that there will be a lot of speculators who are left with inventory they can't make money on. Won't be true for all games as there are some games that I think face value was below market but a lot were not 30% under market. Just my 2 cents
I think all your points are valid but I think the biggest issue we have had is they have not cut out the multiple applications. If you look at the success rates, there is a huge discrepancy on here and on my social networks between the PMA sales process and the general process. That is because a lot of the Fed have their own 'true fan detection' systems. It is not difficult to do if you cross-reference payment cards etc. FIFA basically threw them out of the window for the general ballot. Now we have to go through the friction of resale via spares or official networks. They have not just facilitated resale - which is necessary if people cant attend - they have made it a revenue stream. They WANT more than one transaction per ticket. NOW - there are downstream issues of just the ticketing. I think hotel prices will come down in the next few months as some people have just abandoned going and some people who did multiple hotel bookings will cancel. Just be patient with that. Is what it is, but it is sad that the enthusiasm is being sucked out. Should be building as we get closer.
They kind of did though... But in a very sloppy way that only impacted "normal" fans like us, which sophisticated scalpers seem to have successfully circumvented.
So far weve got: 2x m59 value 8x r32 South Africa value(hope for 73) 4x m28 standard 4x m24 Cat2 still pending some, I had as many f&f apply. only high demand matches, 4x each cat2 or 3 pma wins shared IP card aliases ect. so idk if they even "cleansed" this time around. no wonder scalpers won so many
Isn't that similar to 'surgery successful, pity the patent died'? They have had a 2 months since the draw, enough time to draft a system and get it correct. They could have just used the system from the Euros and added sales phases. It is not hard to design.
rejections coming in now that I didn't expect, kick a brotha when he's down Fifa! on the pro scalpers, fifa set them selves up for it indeed, and owned it. and is profitting. The pro scalpers/bots/agencies in the US will always attack. I bet I could Claude code up a pretty good bot myself! That being said, they'll take a loss on some games at the expense of profits on others, but their goal is a net profit. Sucks!
Thanks for the information. FIFA collect seems better. However, I realized that I need USDC to buy RTT. I'm hesitate to buy USDC.
The Club World Cup and US national team friendly attendance are entirely irrelevant to interest and demand for this World Cup.
This. A reseller was even bragging a few weeks ago that he kept carting all the cheaper tickets for a match for a few hours until his more expensive ones sold tsk, tsk. It's just the world we live in for this tournament Could write at length about every other avenue FIFA have allowed others to exploit fans but much of it has been said already.
I'm looking at the resell market and Norway x Senegal CAT2 is going for $661. Face value in this phase was $465. CAT1 is going for like $850 (Face value for CAT1 was $620) Would it be a good idea to buy this now to secure at least one game, or should I wait until the Chase and Wells Fargo phases? Kinda want something in the hand now while I see how the next few weeks play out. I think I'd do CAT2 though -- $850 for a group stage game makes me uncomfortable, it goes over some kind of internal threshold I seem to have
I think like a lot of financial decisions, there's a huge element of emotion that needs to be factored. If you can't relax without having something in hand, then maybe you should risk paying a premium to not have to worry. But if you can manage the uncertainty, I personally would bet on prices dropping a bit as we are at peak fomo right now. But I don't (and neither does anyone else) have a crystal ball and could be wrong. Do what makes you feel better!
I will sell you my 3 Cat 1s for Norway Vs Senegal face value, $620. Or you can just buy the on FIFA Collect for roughly $550 each (which I will use to replace my tickets if you buy them from me).
I just booked a bunch of flights to get to Seattle, SF and LA and back to East Coast... Getting chest pain from the cost! Lol. Was really excited about my conditional tickets but if US advances, I may need to recoup some of this!
Thanks How do you understand this: "Limit 2 purchase link redemptions per Eligible" cardmembers, with a limit of 1 purchase per link
That doesn't really track with American overall tourism numbers being way down though given the current climate. I can see it for the tickets I applied for in Mexico and Canada which I applied for given how few games there are, and there would be a lot of people, particularly in Latin America who, like me, would want to avoid the US
Is this actually true though? And even if it is, we're talking about a decline from an enormous starting point - so we're still dealing with large numbers at the end of the day.
