Canada is 3-5 ET, so that's 12-2 PT. Plenty of time for the TV ceremony as well as Alexi Lalas blather about the match.
I'm not disputing there is an extra appeal to the opener; the question is if it's adding enough demand to justify the size of the price premium. In terms of optimizing price-gouging, it probably would have been more clever for FIFA not to give a second USA match to the opener site. Then they could say to locals that this is your only opportunity to see the US team.
True, but that other match is the one in which Some Euro team will have fans desperate to get tickets. So FIFA win either way.
Choose the South Korea team to follow for the GDL game vs Mexico and Monterey game vs South Africa. Hope I can score on one of them cat 3. Also shot a Hail Mary for the finals game cat3 let’s see what happens.
Code works now, might’ve been too early when I received it and tested it and maybe it wasn’t active yet?
Absolutely love to hear that you are all in trip booked! Welcome! ..and yes. I'm still paying off the $30 beers at the Doha hotels. They were worth it and tasty but definitely not cheap. Get ready for $10 pitchers of beer at Applebee's this summer!
The same email I used for general application/ballot can be used for the PMA code right? Submitting the pma ballot won’t override the application I sent got the general ballot?
Not to jinx the team/ get ahead of ourselves, but I got: M94 USA vs Belgium {2014 rematch 2-1 ty Tim Howard } M98 USA vs Portugal (2014 rematch 2-2 Portugal last minute equalizer) M101 USA vs France (2018 friendly warmup rematch 1-1) M104 USA vs Mexico/Italy (hehehe) Fingers crossed! All winnable games historically (at least in my dreams).
Money is all well and good but they're going to price out the fans that will generate atmosphere. Who wants to watch a final surrounded by neutrals? Or watch on TV with AI-generated crowd noise? I don't mind 40,000+ tickets to the final going for top dollar to people with a bucket list. It is a shame that the supposed supporters tickets for the final cost multiple thousands. Just what is FIFA going to do with the money? I expect there will be some very overpriced facilities built to wash the money into bank accounts. Hearing that a lot of regular England away fans will not go.
These prices are ridiculous, but if you're not really willing to pay $50 to see a Pot 1 team with good players going against a team with a global superstar, are you ever going to be satisfied with any price they could offer? $50 wasn't even Cat 3 in the last Euros, so do you really expect Seattle Sounders ticket prices at the biggest sporting event in the world? Definitely not defending FIFA at all, but what you want for a somewhat desirable match isn't even close to the market rate even if FIFA was being totally reasonable here.
I can't say I'm surprised because they're scumbags, but I did think they might "discount" the supporters through the teams because, in theory, a large number of those people are traveling from overseas. Especially because they can already bilk locals and people desperate to go in other sections of the stadiums.
I think most people could agree that the Euro 2024 prices were pretty fair. They could have increased those by 10% to adjust for inflation, and then add another 20% “everything costs more in America” bonus. But then you’d still be looking at about $1,500-1,600 for the final in Cat 1, much less than the $4,185-8,680 they are charging now. We’ve all lived through a few years of inflation and have seen prices gone up; I have lived in the US for a while and know some things are more expensive there (while others, like clothes and gasoline, are actually very cheap…). But neither this World Cup being in the US nor inflation justifies prices going up by hundreds of percent. It’s just outrageous robbery!!! I said it before, I’ll (try to) buy tickets for the 2-3 games I really want to see. But the fun of going to also see other matches has been killed off entirely for me. I’ll be in NY when England and Panama play. I just don’t want to spend $220 to see that one match (but would have happily spent €60 during the Euro 2024).
Hosts are supposed to look after their guests rather than rip them off. Unfortunately the organising committee see FIFA as their guests rather than football supporters. We need a football revolution to get rid of FIFA. Perhaps Bostonites can dump them in the harbour
I definitely agree. I bought tickets to three matches and might buy one more (but okay if I don't), which is about half of what I went to at the Euros. I paid probably too much to get a ticket to a match that turned out to be Morocco-Haiti, but I wanted a specific date and venue. Nothing against either team, but I would be more than happy with what I paid if I got Belgium-Egypt there instead. I would probably go see more if the prices were better, but it will still be a fun experience nonetheless.
That does not offer justification at all. You want to see a match not the bland, pointless, pretentious rubbish before it.
It is difficult to compare the last WC with any other as there were far fewer fans and demand but those that did go saw a plethora of matches.
Question about previous world cups, do federations only do conditional KO matches, or do they also send out codes during the tournament as the team advances?
