We'll see in a few hours, but if Iran plays in LA I'm pretty sure they can fill the stands with the local Persian population. They call it Terangeles don't they?
Their third game is in the US, so they’re going to need US visas regardless. If you’re referring to the fans, those will all be coming from the diaspora in US, Canada, and Europe (with passports to match), just like always.
That's what I was wondering too. Is the massive Persian support enough to swing it twice to: Los Angeles over Seattle in M15/M16 and Los Angeles over Vancouver in M39/M40. The matches in these two rounds are: Belgium vs. Egypt, Iran vs. New Zealand Belgium vs. Iran, New Zealand vs. Egypt It will be telling whether they recognise this population and see it as potentially for more money for them and great atmosphere, or whether they look at Belgium's supposed stature and ranking, and consider it some sort of marquee marketable game. Not to mention the political attention surrounding Iran for whatever reason. For the 2nd fixture, Vancouver also has a sizeable Iranian population.
I would guess if the US is not giving visas to members of the Iran FA for the draw, FIFA would want to keep them in Canada as much as possible. But, who knows what Trump and Infantino agree to during their late night chats in bed on FaceTime?
Supposedly 12PM EST USA. But it could be delayed for drama for all I know. Or slowly rolled out over many hours like the Basketball selection shows.
Belgium vs Morocco was one of the best matches of WC2022. If Belgium loses to Iran or Egypt or New Zealand, that will be it.
How does the resale platform work with association tickets? I understand the 30% cut that is taken, but can people profit by buying association tickets (which i think are all face value), then reselling them on the resale platform for a profit if it is an in demand game? Seems a bit of a mistake.
The NCAA quit doing the slow roll after they couldn't stop leaks. They lost the drama when teams found out before they announced it. The NCAA tournament show is a lot more streamlined now.
Technically yes I guess. But there's a chance (i hope) that they will block those Fed tickets from being able to resale. Transfer yes but not to post on resale. Just a guess/hope.
Apologies if someone else already posted something like this and I missed it… I was curious how likely it is for the R32 games that involve a 3rd place team to be matched with the 3rd team from any specific group. See below the outcome. (I highlighted in green the ones that get you over 66% likelihood in each case; and in grey the ones that will play a 2nd place team). Thought it’s helpful to see if you’re planning to buy tickets for an R32 game and wondering who you might get to watch…
Good stuff but it reads a bit weird. 66.7% is really 100%. As in if 3L or 3K make the round of 32 they are locked into their matchups guaranteed. Likewise if 3A or 3B make the round of 32. the odds of being in a specific matchup are incredibly high.
It was? I remember it as a closed game decided through set pieces, and Courtois inability to defend his near post properly. A real ********ing classic.
Not too many Belgium fans at Belgium vs Russia in Rio or USA vs Belgium in Salvador... they might favor the Persian population. Who's on Belgium these days Doku and Tielemans? RIP DeBruyne and Lukaku. Will miss watching Lukaku. Good or bad Lukaku was always entertaining
FIFA wasting another 2 hours of everyone's lives (and probably tens of thousands of dollars) on what could've been an email
