German FA also sent an update today. There’ll be a lottery from 11 Dec to 13 Jan. No advantage if you join early.

One can apply for one ticket (unless you have a family membership, than you can apply for up to 4 depending on number of family members in your membership). One has to pick cat 1, 2 or 3, and they say it’s unclear if you can be moved up or down into another cat if unsuccessful. Also says behind goal in lower rows is Cat 1 indeed. Prices to be announced by FIFA. This is the lottery for all group games and all KO games (subject to Germany reaching the respective KO game).

60% of tickets will be given to Fanclub members (in order of bonus points if oversubscribed), and 40% to Fanbase members (which is a free alternative to the Fanclub).

 

Excited that the draw is today but kinda bummed we don't 100% know yet who is playing in which venues, I fondly remember screaming of excitement when I had bought M3 in russia and finding out it was Spain vs Portugal

 

Ha! Same here, I went to that game also. Lots of goals, great sunset, plenty vodka afterwards.

 

Resale marketplace is working now. Have I missed some FIFA announcement on that? It should be closed until 11th???

 

Well that is what it says still but obviously FIFA could not bear the thought of not make a sack full of cash on resale if it is down.

 

Prices on resale are as if all WC teams were Argentina!

 

Hopefully after the draw the ticket prices for resale will even out. I don’t care if I see bad teams play just want to get tickets to some matches.

I am not watching this crap but very amusing watching Reddit combusting. Interesting that Infantino said years ago how Politics and football are never together. We do really have some truly repulsive people in the world at present who have rather too much power.

Yeah, Infantino is disgusting. He should get the FIFA prize for World’s Biggest Kiss-Ass. I’ll try to phrase this neutrally: (1) there’s actually three countries hosting this, but he picked just one of those to suck up; (2) yes, Trump was elected by a majority in the US, but is also disliked massively by the majority of the rest of the world. So why would the head of an INTERNATIONAL organization not just play it cool, remain neutral and focus on football, instead of inventing a prize just to kiss ass?!

Without getting political, #2 is basically Infantino's and FIFA's plan to avoid any potential "We're going to look at moving matches out of Venue X" threats. That's not an issue in the other host countries. One thing that these sporting organizations hate is potential disruption. They just want to say, "we're going here," there are no real disrupting issues, they collect their gobs of money, and then repeat.

Oh yeah, he's terrible and definitely not defending him at all since he's loathsome. But, I imagine this is part of the calculus that the organization ran to avoid any potential issues that could be caused by Trump. The last thing they want is a venue change not decided by them at this point.

Also, once you get in bed with Putin, the Qataris, and the Saudis, you are already very shameless so none of this is that surprising by him/them with Trump.
