nice... here's a link: https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/capital-region/sports/2025/11/17/fifa-pass-visa-world-cup-2026
More info: FIFA World Cup 2026™ ticket holders to benefit from prioritised U.S. visa appointments for travel to the United States⚽️ Led by the U.S. Department of State, the initiative gives ticket holders access to priority visa interview appointments ahead of the tournament⚽️ FIFA… pic.twitter.com/XAUNrrdv27— FIFA Media (@fifamedia) November 17, 2025 https://inside.fifa.com/organisatio...s-prioritised-visa-appointments-united-states
That's standard boilerplate for someone who didn't win the lottery. I tried too before this round and got to the same place...
I also suspect many soccer fans don't want to bother with the current US political situation and the risks of not getting a visa or being targeted by ICE and thus they feel attending games in Mexico and Canada are safer bets. Tourism in the US with visitors from foreign countries has dropped significantly since you know what...
I can't wait to see a transaction on my credit card that says Fifa WC tickets... Glad to know so many members here were able to get tickets but I feel kind of left out.
I agree with the no politics part because I hear enough of them in a lot of places on the internet when I am not even looking for them. The part of him moving cities/venues also isn't going to happen now, so we can just ignore that part. Once they started to sell tickets, it is going to be almost impossible to move sites. The FIFA Peace Prize is probably Infantino's way to stop those threats.
Just speak on the reports matter of factly. This thread is going off the rails. Now back to the good stuff... congratulations to all who were able to get tickets today! I'm happy to see everyone's plans come to fruition and hope the rest of you get a chance. The next fun part will be the post-draw travel planning once games are confirmed
Speaking for myself, I think you saw (are seeing) a lot of people focused on securing tickets (at any price) for the matches that are MUST-HAVES for them....i.e. matches featuring the three host countries and/or the Semis and Finals. For example I wasn't able to get tickets for Match 32, the US group stage match here in Seattle (which we're already sold out by the time I got into the ticket portal at 10:08 PST). But I was able to get cat 2 tickets for the R32 match in San Francisco and the R16 match here in Seattle, which will be USMNT matches as long as they win their group. That said, there are 4-5 other matches in Seattle/Vancouver/San Francisco that I might be interested in attending, but only once I know the matchups, and at a much lower ticket price. And I think many of the fans from other countries are also going to wait until after the draw. They aren't going to be willing to pay current ticket prices for matches that might not involve their team, so they're almost certainly going to wait until they know where their team will be playing before they buy any tickets.
Back to tickets. Can you guys remind me: if I buy 4 tickets to a game and transfer 3, does that open 3 more to purchase for that same game? Is the 4 limit on # of purchases or # that are in your wallet?
That's right. I know people who avoid traveling to the USA because of all the hassle. Most of them are chosing mexico. If mexico and Canada were close they would have visited both countries
Fully agree with this. At these prices people are not buying on a whim. Those traveling will mostly buy tickets for their own nations and then look to pick up tickets for others that fit in around those. Worst case scenario is buying a ticket for a match that means missing your team play because you would be on a flight. If that match is low demand you could lose a lot of money reselling, with FIFA taking a cut of that. US, Mexican and Canadians know the logistics of watching their teams and some others. Much better to wait. If your team plays in LA then it is realistic to watch a match in San Francisco a day or two later. If you have already got a match in New York the next day you cannot hang around and will miss watching other games on TV in a bar or fan zone. Worst case is buying tickets in Canada and then finding your team is playing in Mexico. TSTs for major nations have sold out, haven't they? The lowest risk tickets for travelling supporters. BTW just heard that the UK is going to ban resale of tickets above face value. Will apply to music and sport. Presumably theatre and anything else too. Good news. No doubt it will be possible to break the law but that will create much more risk for the seller and should massively reduce the problem of people buying purely to profit. Probably makes a future World Cup in England even less likely but nevermind.
they did restock yesterday and everything was avilable, many games in category four (if not all, but I can't confirm that), for a couple of minutes at least. very hard to cart them of course. TSTs are still available, but at horrific prices
What is the general situation in the group games not involving hosts. Any completely gone or plenty of cat 2s as well?
I think other European countries will follow suit. Does mean FIFA need to extract every dollar possible from 2026. Will be harder in 2030.
What passports do they have? And what’s the “hassle”? Something tangible like applying for visas, ETSA, logistics, etc? Or they’ve worked themselves into a fright over things they saw on the internet?
