You missed the point of that post. Of course, any match could end up being the best match of the tournament or one of the best. The point is that people will pay more for some matches and matchups than others, while obviously not knowing in advance whether it will be a good match or not. For Match 4, FIFA have decided to designate it as an opening match, even though it is M4, and are charging nearly $3K for a Category 1 ticket and nearly $2K for a Category 2 ticket as a result. For what is really nothing more than a group match, with maybe some balloons and an artist or 2 singing 1 song (maybe not even actually singing it live). Which will be the USA against what could, and probably pretty likely will not be one of the teams that tends to draw a lot of fans. So yeah, USA-Slovenia in 2010 was a great match and Brazil-Portugal was not. But the stadium was half full for USA-Slovenia and completely full for Brazil-Portugal, as I recall. When we are talking about ticket demand, dynamic pricing, and resale value, which is what we were discussing, it is all about “judging a book by its cover”.
Let me tell you, when it was the Civil War... My six (6) VST tickets in 1998 cost me 1550 FRF, converted to € 234 or US$ 275 at today's conversion rate. US$ 538 adjusted for inflation! That's for seats in a cozy stadium (Montpellier) where we were seated behind the goals right above the players. The round of 16 included saw GERMANY defeat MEXICO 2-1 in a game that Mexico dominated but... https://www.fmfstateofmind.com/2020/5/4/21247231/what-if-luis-hernandez-converted-second-goal-vs-germany-wc-98
I wouldn't recommend going in car to the NJ stadium (MetLife) especially if coming from NY. The train gets you there without stress and traffic
Let me tell you about how it was 2 years and 10 months ago: a Cat 4 ticket to the final cost $206. You can add a zero to that now, and subtract 30.
The opening games are more expensive because you pay a premium price for the opening cerimony of the World Cup.
I got a winner for Monday as well. Expecting nearly nothing in there. Contemplating grabbing US TST, but already have opening game…
Thinking ahead to the draw in early December - once the balls drop into the various slots we will know which teams are in which groups but will we know which matches will be in each city on each date? Trying to plan logistics.
I would expect the teams in each city to be fixed but FIFA has shown some flexibility in times in the past to suit foreign TV viewers.
Expect it to be later that day or the next day. I think for Qatar 2022 it was maybe up to 6 hours later between draw and confirmed kickoffs and a fresh schedule PDF released. Maybe I am remembering this incorrectly? You'll know your group, the three fixtures (likely in order, though some people speculate that they will manipulate order too but I doubt they can as it makes it much too doctored and controversial), and which possible cities you will play in out of the daily pairings, but they probably take a few hours to set it all in stone. For example if Australia get drawn to play in Group C, you'll know straight away that your first game is in either Boston or New Jersey on Saturday 13 June, but it may take a little longer to find out the kickoff. Whenever that schedule finally does get released, will be a crazy late night of booking.
The teams will be drawn into groups immediately during the draw, but FIFA will still have to pick the city for each match, choosing between two possible cities for each group on each matchday. They’ll also have to assign the kickoffs times, but that may come later.
I got the email giving me the privilege of buying tickets this coming week. Assuming there are tickets for the US matches available (big assumption, I know) is it best to buy right away to lock in tickets? I'm also a US Soccer "Circle Insider" so I'm assuming they'll get an allocation of tickets at some point for US games.. or are those just being released now in the visa presale?
Yes, US Soccer will get allocation. There will be a draw which you will be able to sign up for, maybe their prices will be better too (hard to say). You can try to buy now and then sign up for the draw regardless and buy more tickets. Only issue here - you can't buy more than 4 tix per match using same account. So if your fifa purchase this week is via the same email as Circle Insider email then you can't buy another 4 tickets even if your draw is successful with US Soccer.
I'm in the same boat never had an email. Are there many of us? here who have not been blessed by the hand of Fifa ;-)
(Raises hand). My adult daughter got a slot last week so I got a couple of games but choices were limited.
Here’s an FAQ about stadia that I hadn’t noticed before: https://gpcustomersupportfwc2026.ti...es-and-maps-of-the-FIFA-World-Cup-26-stadiums Note that the Dallas capacity is listed as 70,122. Not the 80k (or larger) previously reported. edit: it does say “please note that the net capacity may change due to ongoing stadium configuration”
