I've still got PTSD from that game in Munich. The atmosphere was amazing and worth the price of the ticket to be honest. The result not so much
Have you looked at the ticket categories in the stadium? Here's Seattle for reference. I Have highlighted the green Cat 4 area since it's microscopic. Look closely and think where you might be seated at worst in Cat 1
In World Cup 2010 I bought tickets for about ten random matches before the draw was done. Once the draw was done I got no Australia matches (so had to buy more). Pre tournament I sorted the random matches from most appealing (Brasil v Portugal) to least appealing (USA v Slovenia). I went to all the matches and at the end of the tournament assessed the worst match as Brasil v Portugal and the best was .... USA v Slovenia. Don't judge a book by it's cover!
Agree entirely there is far too much snobbery about crap games etc. I remember in 2006 the most sought after game was Argentina Holland in the group and because they had both qualified it ended up like a training session.
Stubhub in North America will never give you a replacement ticket if the market flies after you bought; just a refund and maybe a credit as noted above. When I used to live right beside the hockey/basketball arena here I'd find some terribly mispriced tickets every now and then and buy them just to see what happened and without fail they would just claim 'no comparable inventory at that price' and flip me a refund + $25/$50 voucher.
Had tix to Cameroon/Serbia in Qatar and just gave them away because I was hungover/didn't want to go all the way to Al-Janoub and it was one of if not the best game of the group stage. That being said I agree with the concept that you should still wait until the draw comes out to get the value for those matches.
I think StubHub recently changed their policy. They now charge the seller the price of comparable ticket for sale if they never send it. I bought Miami tickets before Messi was announced for $9 in StubHub and the seller sent them over although the tickets jumped up to over $500
That USA/Slovenia match was a banger (even though the refs screwed us out of a W) Im still wet from the beer showers after the equalizer
I agree wholeheartedly with this. I have tickets to one random draw, and I’m really hoping it features an Africa / Asia federation match-up. Sometimes the less prominent teams play with a joy and zeal that makes this whole event worthwhile.
Now that we're talking about 2010 WC, any of you have any screenshots of what FIFA's website looked like back then? Gen Z wants to see
I never thought I would say this but .... I miss Sepp. 2010 I took the friend I was staying with in Johannesburg for the Final at Soccer City - 400$ for a Cat 3. Now a group game in my town is 620$ for a Cat 1 that could be anywhere in the stadium. The only redeeming thing about this FIFA ghouls was fixed ticket pricing. Apparently that wasn't enough they had to also screw up all the CATs.
I don't have anything from the website, but I found an email confirmation from when Scorpyn's scanner went off and I had to drive 100mph from wine country back to the first hotel I could find with a business center to complete this transaction and get tix for my crew
After waiting for so long I’ve finally got my e-mail from FIFA! That’s the e-mail offering me a chance to buy the official Trionda match ball
...and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. "Gimme five bees for a quarter," you'd say.
Totally agree, I was at Brazil v Portugal, and it was a snooze fest, and at USA v Slovenia, which was pulsating. My big regret in Qatar was not going to that Cameroon match against Serbia, I felt too ill to get out of bed and so unloaded the ticket. I watched it on TV, it turned out to be an exciting game. I almost skipped Australia v Denmark because of illness as well, but my unhappiness at missing the Cameroon match compelled me to go. I was sat amidst all Aussies and had a blast. You never know!
are you guys buying parking already? I just bought parking for Boston and ny from fifa as well.... last thing I want is for this to be a nightmare experience. Tho they only let you park in the stadium if you have a ticket.
That Seattle stadium map shows you exactly how clueless FIFA is. Cat 1 is all the tickets that are normally sold for Sounders matches. Cat 2/3 are not normally sold for Sounders matches. Cat 4 is <500 seats total.
I googled parking at SoFi for the opener and it says FIFA is not in control of parking it is being handled by SoFi Stadium and navigating to SoFi's website under parking the event is not yet visible.
There are going to be a LOT of tickets available to theoretically "less appealing" matches. There are only about 20 countries that will truly be major draws for a tournament in North America.....the three hosts, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia (have a big population living in the US), England, France, Spain, Germany, Holland, Italy, Portugal, Ireland/Scotland/Poland/Croatia if they qualify (again big populations living in the US), Japan, South Korea, Iran, and any Central American countries with large immigrant populations in the US.
Gianni found legal ways to rip fans off. Dynamic pricing, 30% resell fees... it's all legal. He's marketing FIFA as the global non-profit. Anyone who's been around knows the 2 biggest legal scams on the planet are: religion and non-profits. The man is a genius
Let me tell you kid, when I was in Nam ... Each TST-7 was 2728$. Group 160 x 3 R16 200 QF 300 SF 600 Final 900 ------------ 2480 USD + 10% Markup is 2728 USD
