I do expect prices to drop for most matches eventually, both when the draw comes out and when FIFA releases the bulk of the inventory but would caution with the comparisons to the CWC because FIFA has so far been more successful in getting rid of it's inventory quickly (so less to dump eventually) and given the much higher prices they've achieved, they can trickle inventory periodically instead of big dumps. So yes would say to be patient but expect very few good deals...
If you purchased close to what the market price at the time of the game, the seller will deliver, which happened to me for a game in qatar. The example you give is if you bought cheap which happened to me with Iceland-Arg where I paid 400 and we're selling at 1k at the stadium (ended up paying 600), in that case did issue a refund plus a $150 credit so overall worked out. So it is a risk to use StubHub and their prices should approximate the FIFA resale portal given similar fees, maybe a disconnect now because the FIFA resale just started and maybe some buyers want to avoid the StubHub risk.
I bought argentina vs australia on stubhub .. on train after usa vs netherland… was not planning on doing that game .. but i said ******** it.. looks doable.. $1000 and i got them 10 min before kickoff
Technically they have to provide you a comparable or better ticket under the guarantee. They won't engage in allowing a listing for an event if they are not prepared to do so.
I bought directly from FIFA. FIFA World Cup 26™ - Ticket Confirmation FIFA World Cup 2026™ <noreply@mail.tickets.fifa.com> how is this the 2nd hand market? Any ticket purchase will be subject to your acceptance of the FIFA World Cup 26™ Terms of Sale, which will be available for your review during your purchase and here. Please refer to section 8 of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Ticket Presale Draw for Visa Cardholders - Official Rules for specific details on purchasing match tickets and conditions, as participation in the Visa Presale Draw is governed by it.
I agree. Yes, the CWC is not an apples to apples comparison. I just think instead of paying $500 now for Team A vs Team B, you can probably pay $150 later for Uzbekistan-Cape Verde, or $300 for Norway-Ghana. Brazil, Argentina, France, etc…the price may hold or go up a little. And there may be some isolated good deals in the knockout rounds if big teams get upset. If Norway beats Argentina in the round of 16, that quarterfinal price is coming down.
yea originally I wanted to bring my whole family to games but holy cow... 400+ per ticket and don't know who is playing ro where you are sitting.... mine doesn't have a resale fee. Just the price the seller is this on the invoice. On my credit card it says fifa and when I click the link to the email it sends me to the fifa website. Yes - max 4 electronic tickets per match per account, regardless of how you purchase or receive them. Of course if you violate the T&C you could always have two accounts and link the ticket location for that match.
. . . ...and when StubHub doesn't have alternate tickets they can give you ("no inventory") they do the refund + credit. When a seller defaults, especially using the example where the ticket is pulled two months later and six months before the event, StubHub gets pretty cranky and will likely close the seller's account. At a minimum that credit StubHub gives the buyer (or the cost of the replacement ticket) will be charged to the seller...of course that's just the price of doing business for everyone involved. StubHub less cranky if the listing is cancelled 5 minutes after the purchase.
I’m glad I got to see 17 matches in Qatar. This time I’ll probably just watch from home or a bar. Prices are through the roof!
A buddy of mine bought tickets to the final in Qatar a couple of months before the tournament from one of the big reseller websites but I can’t remember if it was Stubhub or one of the others. I think they were Cat 3, and were not too much over face value. Sounded too good to be true to me. He got an email a couple of weeks before the game saying that the seller could not complete the transaction and they could not find a comparable ticket at the same price, so they refunded his money double what he paid. He told them that wasn’t enough to buy another ticket, so they ended up refunding him triple, which ended up covering the cost of another ticket on their website after prices dropped closer to the game. So, that ended up being a pretty good deal.
Exactly this. My dad got a winning lottery window today and there's nothing the family really needs but just because the window was awarded he wants something. That El Salvador TST is not worth it lol We got a good amount for cat 3 and cat 4 prices with my winning window on the October 1 and probably still overpaid but the stuff that's left is not worth it imo
In the example situation I provided, a lot of people will back out of the sale. Trust me, stubhub will not be taking the hit with thousands of sales. They will issue you a refund and maybe a coupon for future use and call it a day.
Should've tried outside the stadium, a friend of mine got a ticket from some bulgarian touts for 300 just before kickoff as well
I have transferred a pair of tickets that I bought this morning from the FIFA portal (NOT resale portal) and my friend cannot accept them. When she clicks on the "Accept" button it just refreshes as if nothing happened. Is this a glitch or what am i missing?
Argentina v Iceland, I remember trying to cart that ticket for months and being unsuccessful. We went to the stadium on match day. Touts were quoting prices around $1200, we figured we’d wait until after kickoff and see if people would unload tickets then. While waiting, I was refreshing the FIFA ticketing site on my phone, basically out of reflex, and two CAT3s appeared, which I purchased! (We had a heck of a time getting them printed out at the FIFA ticketing spot, though, we ended up missing the first ten minutes of the game.)
What, you paid $1000 to watch a bunch of hack Aussies play?? You're keen... (just joking). Funnily enough particular ticket was purchased by me before the actual draw was made, think it was a 4 game 4 stadium deal fifa were offering at the time. Worked out great for us. Didn't need to therefore chase a ticket for that r16 game. You never know what you'll end up with when buying blind, those r32 and r16 never work out according to script.
Australia wins against Canada Today! Just a reminder, opening Games have always been shit, Scotland vs Germany, Qatar vs Ecuador are the recent examples where people have paid crazy sums and watched stupid games!
