Do you have any specific recommendations? We like sit-down places that are not super expensive. I realize most people are focused on tickets but part of this thread is related travel information, so it would be great to hear from locals of the venue cities of any restaurant recommendations of any type of food that we might try while in town for a match.
I have a window tomorrow morning. Does anybody know if there are any tickets available for the three US group games? I’ll take any category.
Mandi House and Sadaf (which is persian but kinda similar) in LA are top notch. LA has a shit ton of middle eastern joints which can be dirt cheap. Same deal with Mexican. Yemeni Kebab and Mediterranean in downtown SF is great as well. Tenderloin has a ton of great, cheap ethnic cuisine and the new mayor has apparently cleaned it up.
And I’m not saying FIFA will fix the draw, simply that they will follow the same practices as any business with goal of balancing customer satisfaction with maximum profit & risk management. We know they consider government desires too. They changed Qatar’s opening match in 2022 months after the draw to a totally different day. Because Qatar decided they wanted fireworks. Which then cascaded to changing the times of other matches, and forcing many people (including me & friends) to change flights or sell tickets we had already bought. Also they stuck England on the island of Sardinia when Italy hosted.
Mine show as a single order of 2 tickets in my account, (they were the same price) so I expect they will be assigned seats together once this happens, just the same as people buying 4 etc in the presale as it proceeds.
FIFA ususally does whatever they want. Not telling they are going to do anything, but noone should be surprised if they do it
This is funny because two of my friends missed both Saudi goals against Argentina while getting that mediocre food at halftime. We'll never let them forget that
I would say almost certainly. I doubt they will put England at a venue where kick offs will be after 1 am local time. So that rules out Florida and Atlanta where they say all kick offs will be evening to avoid the heat.
I would have thought heat was a potential problem at a number of venues but as Atlanta has a retractable roof that should be one reason to play in the afternoon.
This is not correct. I have received tickets and accepted tickets despite not being successful in the draw. The best most reliable explanation i have is that VST and TST (not 100% sure here) are fully transferrable and transferrable on again. Individual match tickets fail as the recipient cannot accept them.
Exactly, the whole reason for leaving the stadium assignments and kickoff times TBD until after the draw is to allow maximum flexibility for getting the biggest teams into the biggest stadiums and optimal kickoff times. The kickoff times are mostly very flexible regardless of city, except the west coast and Mexico likely won’t be at 12pm ET (9/10am local). It’ll be figuring out a balance between local time, participating team timezone, prime time TV in important markets (Europe, Asia), and player safety considerations in the heat (not necessarily in that order). It’s conceivable that England could play at 1am in London, if the schedule breaks a certain way. But they’ll most likely be in the biggest game of the day on all their matchdays and get priority scheduling for 12/3pm ET. And FIFA absolutely would schedule them in Miami at 3pm ET if that’s the best all around option.
that's why we will not know exact schedule until maybe day after the draw but the logic will be easy. european teams with earlier games preferably in covered stadiums, american teams later games. about africa they don't care, about most asian teams the same.
Yep, the teams from the Americas can play at any time of day or night, since all kickoffs are during “waking” hours in the Americas. But nighttime would still be optimal for the Americas, which works nicely since the European team are best for the afternoon. The East Asia teams and Australia/NZ are best as late as possible, to be during the morning over there.
Was this after Qatar??? Or you never mentioned it? I would have brought you a River jersey for your help getting the USA/ENG tix!
I would bet kick off times will be noon, 3, 6, 9 eastern time for the Match day 1 and 2 games with 4 games a day. I would assume no west coast game kicks off at noon eastern and no east coast game kicks off at 9. Matchday 3: NY, Boston, SF, Vancouver. The only seeded game here will likely be in NY. Will get a middle time slot as it is a Saturday. Matchday 4: Philly, Houston, Dallas, Monterrey. Dallas is the seeded and tossup between Philly and Houston. Philly will likely be getting the first time slot of the day. Philly could still get a seeded matchup though as it’s a Sunday, I would put the edge on Houston. Matchday 5: Atlanta, Miami, Seattle, LA. Our first ATL vs MIA showdown. Have to assume LA gets the seeded matchup and will kickoff at 9. My guess is whoever gets the seeded matchup in ATL vs MIA kicks off 6 and the other at Noon. Seattle at 3. Matchday 6: SF, KC, Boston, NY. SF will kick off at 9, If they get the seeded matchup over KC is probably dependent on the teams but I would give them the edge. Boston will kickoff at noon. NY gets seeded kickoff at 6. KC to get 3 or 8 if they somehow get seeded. Matchday 7: Mexico City, Houston, Dallas, Toronto. Toronto will kickoff at noon, Dallas is seeded and will get 6 or 9. Whoever gets the seeded between Mexico City and Houston gets the other late kickoff. Matchday 8: Atlanta, Guadalajara, LA, Vancouver. Atlanta at noon, LA at 3, Guadalajara at 6 (Mex), Vancouver at 9 (Can). You could argue to swap the Mexico and Canada matchups to me. Matchday 9: Boston, Philly, SF, Seattle. Whoever gets seeded on the east Coast gets 6, the other gets noon. SF will get 3 and 9 for Seattle (USA). Matchday 10: Toronto, KC, Houston, Monterrey. Pretty straightforward Saturday, Toronto gets noon, KC and Houston get the seeded. Matchday 11: Atlanta, Miami, LA, Vancouver. The next ATL vs MIA on a Sunday. East Coast gets noon, LA gets seeded and my guess is at 9 for weather. Matchday 12: NY, Philly, Dallas, SF. Philly will get the noon, NY will get 6 seeded. My guess is SF gets 3 and Dallas gets 9 seeded. Matchday 13: Boston, Toronto, Houston, Guadalajara. Another straightforward day. Toronto at noon, Boston at 6 seeded. Guadalajara at 3, Houston at 9 seeded.
