The impact is also short-term: the atmosphere will be bad for 80% of the games. Real fans can’t come, while only the wealthy ones are here. Good luck finding the old football atmosphere. No joke—you might even miss the atmosphere in the stadiums in Qatar, even though it wasn’t that great. Stadiums in Qatar were small making atmosphere ok even with low number of real fans. Having a low number of real fans in a 75k stadium isn't good for the vibes. Putting the cheap Category 3 seats very high in the stadium doesn’t help neither.Federation tickets will end up on Viagogo as soon as European fans receive them. This World Cup will be 90% for locals and probably the lowest one (maybe after South Africa) in terms of international travelers compared to total tickets sold. I chose Mexico, and I’m sure I made the right decision—the vibes are guaranteed
Still not got a time slot (if the ‘cleansing’ meant what the general opinion here was, I won’t be getting one anyway) so I was looking at the resale. Most of the prices for the 4 games I’m looking at were insane for Cat 3 and Cat 4, let alone the others. However, I did see some Cat 2’s for M5, at about 50% mark up. Still far too much really, but we are committed to staying in Boston at the start of our trip, so like a gullible fool I bought them. But that’s it until I either get lucky in the lotteries or a future FCFS or the resale prices plummet post draw. Anyway, at least I’m seeing one game……..from crap seat, watching two crappy teams, sat next to somebody who paid $60 or less the day before! Congrats to all those who got a spot and got what they wanted and good luck to the rest.
Someone her mentioned they used a totally different card from the applications that did not match the name and even the address, and it went through That's crazy, never seen this before, usually the name and billing address need to be provided and need to match. Well, apparently, not for FIFA. They just want you to buy... buy... buy
I have a slot for tomorrow, can someone share if there are any tickets available for $200 or less, any categories, any city.
none knows what will be available when the slot opens no category 3 single tickets were available few minutes into the start of the last slot
The real fans won’t be in the stadiums because the real fans live in their home countries and can’t afford to travel to the US (same as Qatar). But if you can afford to fly to the US, pay for hotels, etc then you can afford to pay an extra $100 for some match tickets. Match tickets are never the biggest expense and they won’t be this time either.
Not sure I agree with this idea US stadia will just be full of bored, wealthy uninterested locals as the Population has links with so many countries there will always be plenty of passionate fans I woudl have thought even if their links to a certain country maybe rather tenuous.
I see someone on Reddit is auctioning off his presale invitation link. Presumably his Grandmother will be thrown in as well.
You’re right there will be some, especially for some of the Latin American teams. But we’re talking about 80,000 seat stadiums where 60% or more are expensive Cat 1 seats and it seems most real fans are priced out of those, especially knockout games. So, yeah mostly the tech bros and wealthier casual fans will be filling the lower bowl and most of the rest of the stadiums with the real fans sprinkled around up top, and probably in the supporters sections which might be up top too. So, not really a formula for a great World Cup experience.
While the CWC was certainly less prestigious the $13 tickets were for the Chelsea v Fluminense semi final. Two major football clubs with a huge history. Had the game been in Rio or London it would have been totally sold out. It is $620 for a cat 1 ticket for San Francisco on Tuesday June 16th. The other game in Group J that day is in KC which is cheaper. There are plenty of teams in the group stage who will bring very little support. Getting $62 a ticket for Uzbekistan v DR Congo would be quite an achivement. Good luck reselling a $620 ticket. At least one of these games will be a very hard sell. On Saturday night in Lisbon visiting fans will pay 20 euro (approx $23) to watch Portugal v Republic of Ireland. Lower tier behind the goal eg cat 1 next year. 25 euro for lower tier in the corners and the very best seats are 35 euros. Some of the best football players on the planet will be on show. Now take a possible group oif Belgium, Senegal, Uzbekistan and New Zealand. Are you really suggesting that the $620 tickets will sellout?
"I just submitted a transfer of four tickets to my friend. My friend can see the request, but when he hits accepts, he gets no response, and no confirmation of it transferring. Can anyone confirm if they have succeeded? Is it possible that if you are in the middle of a live sales phase, you aren't able to transfer tickets? It certainly doesn't seem like there will be a fee associated with this transfer. I was never cautioned about a fee when I proposed a transfer, nor did my friend receive one for accepting it." -from a reddit user
So Basically a lot of people tried to transfer the tickets on the portal but receiver cannot accept it as of yet. some "experts" said that part of the website is not yet working, so we wait for now. Also another important thing to be noted is that guest and owner tickets both can be transferred.
Strange. You can transfer tickets before they even appear in the app? And can the main applicant also be transferred.. What’s the reason for this flexibility they’re surprisingly offering?
And let's thinks that this is the fist WC in years that did not required ANY infrastructure investment at all. So it is not that they needed the money to compensate for any of it. Good thing is that the Lesotho national team for WC 2058 will be a contestant thanks to our 2026 money
The infrastructure is 100% paid by the host nation. FIFAs never dropped a cent on stadiums etc. USA gives them the golden opportunity to print money at will. RTB sales, reselling at any price and making 30% on the sale. It’s disgusting greed. Prices will drop like a stone for most matches after the draw. So be careful holding some tickets; because these prices will come down. Americans overpay; but they’re not dumb. We saw it during CWC. $500 for Cape Verde vs Paraguay at noon isn’t happening.
So i am not alone. Fellow member transferred 2 tickets to me, but despite several attempts to accept, it didn't go through. When i contacted Fifa, they shared a link to try, but did not work. Funny part is that when i open the link, it shows that i am successful in the draw, but actually i am not.
On the FIFA website, it’s stated that the Dallas stadium has a capacity of 94,000 people; however, there are records on the internet showing only 80,000. Do you know if the 94,000 capacity will actually be considered?
I believe 80k is the permanent seats. That can be increased with either temporary seating (which it seems they won’t do for this) or selling thousands of standing-room only tickets, which they do for Cowboys games. Imagine if Cat 4 turns out to be standing tickets
With a capacity of 94,000 people, I think it is unlikely that these high prices will hold for the vast majority of matches, except for Argentina games.
And when you think that all the bad news were out there.... We have Panama and Tunisia on the same Pot WHY FIFA, WHY???? Give us the rematch!
Prices will come down hard. You’ll be able to find under 100 tickets in June for most group games. Patience will be key here.
