not a reseller and haven't "won" the pre-sale draw yet but you realize CWC is an entirely different (and far, far less prestigious and interesting) of an event than the World Cup. They aren't going to plummet to $13 or whatever dumb number FIFA needed to offload them, even if the match happened to be Gabon vs United Arab Emirates on a weekday.
Agreed that they probably will not drop as far down as the CWC, but I believe they will drop down for most, if not all matches, especially if FIFA waits too long.
since it's matchday 3, canada will be playing at the same time as m52, which is hosting the other game in their group. would consider buying those tickets but ofc i want to prioritize canada's game
You do realize fifa have had to give away tickets last minute to fill stadiums by halftime right? I want to say it was Egypt vs Uruguay in 2018. Salah vs Suarez wasnt enough. Now you think a pot 3 vs pot 4 game on a Wednesday during work hours will fill up even at cat 3 prices? Idk. Maybe but idk...
I'm curious whether prices to any of the matches in Canada will drop for future sales. Vancouver, and especially Toronto, are two of the smaller venues, and they both have a large football community. Many Canadians have been holding off on travel to the US, which has resulted in a surge in domestic summer travel. I could see the World Cup becoming a part of many people's summer plans. The only question is what price point would cause them to pass...
Still no email, hopefully there’s still decent stocks left for those who did receive it today! Prices being posted just reiterate how unique Qatar was: Lack of travel/hotel requirements once in country and ticket prices (atleast for group stages) were in line with previous tournaments.
Somebody posted on Reddit the table of ticket prices for Qatar 2022 side-by-side with 2026 prices. It is a total meltdown in the comments. I think it is a bit of a bubble of diehards in here. Those people on Reddit seem like newer fans, who have never been to a World Cup before and just assumed the World Cup was super expensive, or were completely shocked. Either way, I don’t know if this ends well for FIFA, especially in the long term.
Matches for this World Cup are a blatant cash grab, even if FIFA is trying to eat the lunch of touts. The old model was more welcome, as most could use persistence or a network of like-minded fans to obtain tickets at reasonable prices. This year could prove to be more of a challenge, and hopefully FIFA's reputation suffers if fans miss out.
What we were promised were prices in line with all previous World Cups. Check out the winning bid book for the United 2026 bid. See page 490 of 530 in the PDF: https://digitalhub.fifa.com/m/3c077448dcd5c0ab/original/w3yjeu7dadt5erw26wmu-pdf.pdf I know it was 7 years ago, but 7 years, or even 3 years (since Qatar 2022), does not justify price increases of 400%, or more.
That's what I was thinking... touts are seeing charges of $10,000, maybe way more on their credit cards and they're not recouping any of that money or very little, and if they even read forums like ours, they're starting to understand that people are waiting and that they may be able to recoup some of this money only THE DAY BEFORE A GAME and in the mean time their money is gone... and not even bringing interest. We'll see how it pans out on Dec 5 the day of the draw.
Yep. And a lot of these scalpers are pure amateurs looking to take advantage and make some $. They got lucky in the draw, and just bought a bunch of tickets believing Infantino’s comment that every match is a Super Bowl. Some dude on Reddit said he bought Category 1 semifinal tickets just to resell them. He will be lucky to recover face value since they’re more than twice what they were last time.
Still can't get rid of my 22 signature, with how disgusting FIFA have become prices wise + the fact a world cup will never be in that small area, what we had in Qatar will never happen again. The cost for all the tickets I got for the last world cup would be INSANE this world cup, I can't even imagine it.
The bid book is a document used to promote the bid to FIFA, not a promise to the global public. The prices there are the bid committee telling FIFA "Here's what we think you will be able to charge if you pick us." It wasn't converted into a contract binding FIFA to those prices. FIFA decided it wanted to be more greedy than the bid book authors. The bid book also says there will be 16 3-team groups, Vancouver won't be a host city, and Los Angeles will use the Rose Bowl as its venue.
From the shop portal (not resale) click your account name in the top right > Ticket Purchase History > See details > Scroll all the way down to the 'Sit together' section
I think this has been asked and answered but I can’t find it. Can the CC you use to buy tickets be from a completely different person (name, address) than the FIFA account person? Has anyone done this?
Has there been any indication from past tournaments that would suggest that the retail price (i.e. direct from FIFA) of a ticket affects how good the seat is? E.g. if Category 1 is purchased at $410 and in future phases sells for less than $410, the ticket that was purchased at $410 has a better seat than the cheaper Category 1?
FIFAs never offered variable pricing before. But past experience says the best seats aren't assigned to the general public. Good seats go to sponsors and VIPs.
And some of those tickets are returned closer to the tournament. In Qatar, it seemed that the worst seats were sold in the first few phases. The resale platforms were flooded with them when seat assignments came out.
small update as promised for test purposes I applied several times using the same credit card, none of those got a slot assigned, so they obviously did some filtering. for the other clean applications, we got a couple of slots but appplication with lowest ranked number from the source code did not get it yet, so digits we saw in the source code on that particular day were not necessarily revealing true ranking. ended up buying two single games in category 3 and venue azteca in category 2. everything else will be done after the draw, we could not justify paying for expensive tickets that might end up as jordan vs. cabo verde
