Freddy third in the league in salary
Anybody know what kind of money Landon and Eddie get from endorsements if any? And if it compares with Adu's?
I had no idea Guppy was making anywhere near that amount, forget cutting Dema to open cap space get rid of the fish, I think our midfield has shown we don't need him.
I thought Gomez new contract was higher than that. I wonder if/when a full list will be posted...
wow, send fish to Chicago
I thought Jaime would be making more too, especially after his MVP play last year, good bargain price for both.
I thought he was playing for peanuts. It appears I was VERY wrong.
What a stupid acquisition at that salary level. Ugh ...
guppies are too small to really fillet one. we're better off just boiling him whole
Man, EJ is making some nice coin. Good for the young man.
Damn! GAM Eddie Johnson is getting paid! I wonder how Ruiz feels about that?
I guess MLS had to pull out the $$$ to keep him from going overseas.
Despite these recent facts, how much do you want to be that most of the press keep citing Adu as MLS's high paid player....... for the next two years???
Thanks to Mr. Goff, he is the man.
Well this will provide plenty of BigSoccer fodder league-wide.
Someone want to tell Dallas fans to shut the hell up now about how the league never does anything for them.
Goff reported that Gomez's salary was in the $200K range after his loan deal was converted into a transfer in the off-season - he probably deserves to be in that range.
IIRC, Moreno signed a low base contract which was loaded with incentives which he must have met. He is also a bargain at that salary.
Guppy is indeed a waste for that kind of $ - I thought that we got him for no more than $100K. We could really get a decent defender if those $ were available; however, I have to believe that Adu will no longer be salary-cap exempt next year after playing a significant amount of games/minutes in the past two years - we will need to dump a fair amount of current salary $ to fit Adu under the cap.
I was never really impressed with Guppy's play (he seems to contradict Nowak's style of play), and this salary number doesn't help his cause.
Damn, those numbers are close to my incentive deal with Captain Morgans. I need to renegotiate.
Poor Bobby Boswell and Josh Gros need additional part time jobs.
Too be honest $150 sounds good enough to keep some of the good players here. Taylor Twellman sounds due for a raise.
Yikes Guppy 120k$, what a waste....
The regular season is only half over, people. Guppy may yet show his worth and earn his keep. Nobody knows when the injuries will come or who will be hurt. Let the guy play a bit before you toss him like yesterday's garbage!
Anyone making six figures and being hurt the vast majority of the time is a drain on a team (look at Quaranta almost every season except this one) but look at how they can benefit when they're playing (Santino this season, or at least his last two games with DC...)
Most people certainly enjoy getting a 10% raise. Eddie Johnson got a ten fold raise.
It's all going to be wasted if this turf toe lingers, too.
And... done. (In my mind, anyway. I can't speak for all of us.)
SSHH!!! You'll jinx it. (Bad memories of watching "Neon" Deion hobbling around like a traffic cone.)
That would be a good analogy if Guppy was in his early 20s, but the fact that hes 37 and also probably not accustomed to our summer weather will no doubt hamper his effectiveness when he does come back. I can (and probably will) eat crow on this, but frankly I dont think Guppy will ever be worth that much against the cap.
