Tottenham Hotspur Football Club vs scouse gits

Nobody has beaten us this year, in league or cup.

Yes, the scousers are on form. But will they damage our 100% record?

Good luck Brownie, sock it to 'em.

Brownie scored two good goals for the reserves in midweek, I saw clips of them on THTV.

A draw to keep the unbeaten run going would be ok, but we can still win this against those longball merchants. They have no right back right now, so hopefully Dalmat will play on the left wing and run them to pieces.

A midfield of Davies, Dalmat and Brown ... even Pleat shouldn't be able to screw that one up, no matter who the fourth midfielder is. I stand corrected ... now Brown's talking on the Spurs site about possibly not even getting on the field vs. Liverp**l. Sheesh, typical.

Let's hope Keane's recent run of form continues. I have a feeling finishing will be critical in this game.

Brown missed a month with his suspension, so he was apparently a bit knackered after his reserve game. He's quite a hard running player so it's unlikely he'll be able to manage 90 minutes against Liverpool. I would expect him to either come on off for the bench for the 2nd half, or start and then be subbed out after an hour or so.

He did apparently play very well for the reserves, so I think he's just talking his chances his down.

Is Gerrard going to play? I heard he is doubtful, which would be a big help if you ask me. Also when is Richards coming back?? I haven't heard much on his status as of late.

Gerrard is definitely out, which is a big plus, anything to weaken their central midfield is important.

    This would be my team:

    ...............Keano--Zamora

    ....................Brown
    .....Dalmat--------------Davies
    ....................Ledley

    .....Tanno--Gardner--Doherty--Carr

    ................Keller

    Subs:
    Hirshfeld
    Jackson
    Anderton
    Ricketts
    Postiga

I imagine Pleat will go with Postiga, which I don't mind, but Zamora is a more logical replacement for Kanoute because he gives us the pace and height up front. Seeing as we'll be playing with two wingers (although Pleat might play them on the wrong sides again) and Liverpool lack pace at the back, it makes sense to exploit this.

I'd start with Brown and take him off when knackered to be replaced by Ricketts. King to play in midfield because we still need someone to protect the back 4 in this one even though it's a home game. With Brown/Ricketts we have enough attacking drive in the middle. I imagine Pleat though might start with Anderton in place of Brown, with a view to bringing Brown on in the 2nd half.

    Cometh The Hour.....

"David Pleat has revealed that Helder Postiga will start in place of Fredi Kanoute in tomorrow's Premiership clash against Liverpool at the Lane.

"We might have to make another change elsewhere because of a slight injury, we won't know until the morning. It's a shame because the lads have showed promising attitude and character in the last few games."

Gus Poyet is suspended, Mbulelo Mabizela is with South Africa while Dean Richards, Christian Ziege and Jamie Redknapp remain injured."

Come on, Postiga, your team needs you.

I'm going tomorrow, so he'd better score, the ho!

nice one, i didn't hold out much hope for this match. good to see helder on the score sheet. like i said in a previous thread, i hope he goes on a tear and kanoute comes back to the bench. sounds like gardner had a good game too.

looks like other results went our way as well, except perhaps for the bolton one. still 4 points out a european spot. it's bound to be real fight for that 4th champions league spot and the uefa cup berths, but we could be right in there, as long as we don't have our usual end of season collapse.

This was a great result, even though it was a bit nervy in the end. King pulled out with injury this morning, Dalmat was struggling from the start with something and had to go off, and a less than 100% sharp Brown played a full 90, getting 3 points with all that is a huge bonus.

Roll on Man City in the cup next Sunday.

I think this is about as good as anyone could hope for. Postiga getting that monkey off his back and getting three points as well is great. I was hoping for one point and staying clear of the drop zone but now we are looking pretty decent now. With games against Man City (FA cup) which would be nice to knock them out of both cups in one year. Fulham and Portsmouth are both beatable and we could be in great shape in the league. Maybe Fulham will be in some trouble because of the Saha saga. Get rid of him and I am much less afraid of them putting more than one goal against us. Anyway, great to get a win against a pretty decent team in Liverpool.

Great win! This is exactly what I had hoped for. Both Postiga and Keane scored and our defense held despite missing Richards. No injuries, no red cards, it's a fantastic win. Only 4 points out of a UEFA spot, and only 5 points behind Liverp**l, whom we've beaten and tied this season. I keep thinking Charlton will fade in the back half of the season, so if we keep within a couple wins of Liverp**l and Newcastle anything can happen.

Great to see Postiga break his Premiership duck--particularly with all the transfer speculation lately.

When Davies and Dalmat are on the field together, good things happen. I'm also happy to see Davies back, he's our creative force.

Man, I'm hoarse. Screamed like a maniac.

Keller didn't have much to do except stand in the way of weak shots and headers, and pick the ball out of the net. His attempts to punch the ball from crosses are a bit pants.

Tano played well. He was fouled by Heskey for the 'Pools goal, but apart from that he was pretty solid.

Doherty immense in the air, but just frightening with the ball at his feet. He kept me on my toes throughout, and he kept Owen in his pocket all game. Played very well indeed.

Gardner. Simply incredible. I was sitting with two 'Pool fans who just raved about him. Gardner was first to every ball aimed at Heskey and Owen, and one particular tackle on Owen stands out, 'cos he got the ball and the player. Immense. Ledley who? Sol who?

Carr combines so well with Davies. A constant terror for 'Pool down the right. Very good game.

Dalmat didn't get a sniff. Replaced by Jackson, who played alright. Jacko supplied the pass for Postiga's goal. I was a bit concerned that we had a youngster in Johnnie and the limited Tano on the left, but they coped well.

Brown. Fairly anonymous. He can only get better though.

Anderton played his socks off. I know I've criticized him in the past, but it's obvious that he's Spurs through and through. Played brilliantly in the centre.

Davies got well stuck in. Started on the left (Pleat's tactical twattery at play here), but kept drifting in and putting pressure on the 'Pool midfield. Very nippy.

Keano. Didn't see much of him at first. One thing I've noticed about Postiga and Keano is that they don't often bother going for headers, instead run behind the defender anticipating a mistake.
Biscan brought down Keano as he was bearing down on goal. Thankfully, Jones didn't get his hand on the ball firmly enough from the resulting penalty.
Keano is full of running at the mo. Very confident.

Postiga was pretty good. We all went mad when he finally scored, he took the shot so well, didn't snatch at it, but waited for it to come down before lashing it past Jones.

Zamo came on for Postiga after 'Pool scored, and injected a fresh sense of urgency into proceedings, chasing every ball and closing down 'Pool players when they had the ball.

We played so well. 'Pool only had one effort on target, which I think just shows how excellent Gardner and Doherty played (Gardner got MOTM, with Doc in 2nd place).

I think 'Pool fans have every reason to want Houllier out. The man responded to Spurs going 2-0 up by bringing on 2 defenders. What a sac.

I expected a 1-1 draw, but we deserved this win 100%. Liverpool didn't turn up.

    Roll on the next game.

Any yanks watch this game on tv? Apparantly, it was on all over the world. Let me know your thoughts, ho's!

    COME ON YOU SPURS!!

Ordered it on PPV. I guess I was prophetic when I said Helder will score. Sadly, he didn't answer his cell phone when I called to make a suggestion about his goal celebration.

That was ball to hand on Doherty. 90% of the time I've seen them given because Owen would almost certainly have been and Doc did have his hand out in front of him, although I think that was a natural act of turning and trying to sprint at the same time, and not really a cynical attempt to stop the ball as that tired old tosser Houllier claimed afterwards. Bit of inexperience from Doc, but like Gardner this season he'll keep getting better with games, so Richards injury problems are a blessing in disguise. Lacks a bit of pace though.

Speaking of which, Gardner is getting better and better. He's got so much natural ability and if can stay fit he'll be better than Judas ever was.

What do we do when Richards comes back to first team action?? I don't know if you want to break up what we have rolling but Richards costs too much to have him play behind Doherty for very long. Not for sure but maybe move someone into Tano's spot out wide and keep Doherty and Richards in the middle and then have Carr and Gardner out wide?? Very happy to hear Anderton played well, we needed a good performance from him.
