During the Crew v Revs game, the announcers commented on the wealth of great keepers form the U.S. I can't argue. What are your rakings of our keepers? Here's a go: 1) Friedel 2) Howard 3) Keller 4) Hahnemann 5) Adin Brown 6) Cannon Howard just keeps impressing me. He could start in Germany 2006. BTW, who's that other dude playing in Europe?
I would put Keller #2 behind Friedel. Just becuase there is all this buzz around Howard, he is still unproven in a top league, whereas Keller is well regarded in the Premiership. If Timmy moves to ManU or another team in a top league and proves himself there, then I'd put him above Keller. BUt not now.
Is the "other dude" who plays in Europe Ian Feuer? He played with Wimbledon in England's First Division and spent a bit of 2002 with Derby County in the Premier League. Even if this is not who you're thinking of, check out www.ianfeuer.com. It's his own website, complete with seven and a half minute highlight video tracked to Bob Seger's "Like a Rock". It is, to put it politely, a bit self-indulgent.
Y'know, as much as I love to rag on Cartman Meola, I'd rank him above Cannon right now, especially since I haven't see Cannon play for six months or so... Of course, I reserve the right to totally change my mind after USA-Wales tonight...
Did the video include the three second half goals he let in against the FIRE in '99 when his side had the man advantage for the last hour? If so, I'll check it out.
Yeah, I gotta put Keller above Howard. If Timmy does go to Manchester United and is their 1st choice keeper, he will move up. But I guess we are lucky in that we have 2 of the top 5 keepers in the EPL (hopefully that won't change).
I don't know if I would say that Keller is one of the top five keepers in the EPL, but he is pretty good, and he is the second best US keeper behind Friedel, while Howard is third.
That highlight was conspicuously absent. There were a couple of saves, though, that looked like they could have benefited from better positioning. Seventy-five percent of goalkeeping is being in the right place at the right time. All of that is to say that some of those saves may have been unnecessarily dramatic! The music is stirring, though. Simply moving.
What's Feuer doing now? From the Web site, it appears he didn't play this past season. Odd that he included indoor soccer highlights, too.

we suffered with Feuer for a season.He would be the worst kepper in MLS right now. When the Revs cut him not one team in MLS was interested, not even as a back-up.He is big but very, very slow.If you can shoot below the knee, you have a goal.
Not a bad list. Like others I'm going to keep Keller above Howard for now and possibly move Brown above Hahnemann simply because while I've heard he had a great season at Reading I haven't seen him play. The "other guy" mentioned on the FSW broadcast was I believe Johnny Walker who plays in Chile, not Europe - but IIRC they didn't make that clear, and rumor has it may be considering acquiring Chilean citizenship as he'd have a better shot at NT action there.

Brown has been absolutely dominating.One great game after the next. He and Howard are a cut above everyone else domestically. And since they are 25 and 24, I think all the other guys after Friedel and Keller are SOL.

I agree! I'd also put Hanneman above any other MLSers. I still think playing Div 1 in England is tougher as a keeper than the MLS. And Marcus has been on FIRE!!!
Brown and Howard are both better than Hahnemann for my money. Marcus wasn't anything special when he was in MLS and he doesn't have the size of the other two.

As to whether he will go there at all, then I personally have little comment, other than that they might take him on as a cheap backup for the more experienced #1 position. I have, well I think I have. Regardless, if he's as good as you lot reckon he is, then sure I'd wish he were English. He sounds like some demi-god as it is. We're a bit thin on keepers that aren't too old or haven't been relegated or narrowly missed relegation.
