I'm not saying this in an angry way mate, but I don't think you corrected for what I said about Bergkamp's International assists even yet did you? Apologies if you did and I'm just thinking not at first glance due to his placing and remembering wrong - I'll check later but I think for credibility you should have done or should do anyway.
I think Bergkamp's French Wiki page basically includes only assists from major championship (Euros, World Cups) Finals tournaments: Comparing to Puck's compiled list that I posted before: All Bergkamp goals and assists for national team, 79 caps 1 goal Greece 1990 (assist: Van 't Schip) [euro-qualifiers] 2 goals Malta 1990 (both assists: Van Basten) [euro qualifiers] 1 goal vs Poland 1991 (no assister) 1 goals vs Greece 1991 (assist: Wouters) [euro-qualifiers] 1 goals vs Austria 1992 (no assister) 1 goal vs Scotland 1992 (assist: Rijkaard) [european championships] 1 goals vs Germany 1992 (assist: Winter) [european championships] 1 goal vs Denmark 1992 (assist: Rijkaard) [european championships] 2 goals vs Italy 1992 (assist: Roy, Van Basten) 1 goal vs Norway 1992 (assist: Van Basten) [WC qualifiers] 1 assist vs Turkey 1993 [WC qualifiers] 1 goal vs England 1993 (assist: Wouters) [WC qualifiers] 1 assist vs San Marino 1993 [WC qualifiers] 1 goal vs England 1993 (no assister) [WC qualifiers] 2 goals vs Poland 1993 (assist: Wouters, Roy) [WC qualifiers] 2 goals (assist: no assister, Rob Witschge), 2 assist vs Hungary 1994 1 goal (no assister), 2 assists vs Canada 1994 1 goal vs Ireland 1994 (assist: Overmars) [World Cup] 1 goal (assist: Van Vossen), 1 assist vs Morocco 1994 [World Cup] 1 goal vs Brazil 1994 (assist: Rob Witschge) [World Cup] 1 goal (PK) (assist: Bergkamp!), 2 assists vs Malta 1995 [euro-qualifiers] 2 assists vs China 1996 1 goal (assist: Davids), 2 assists vs Ireland 1996 1 goal vs Switzerland 1996 (assist: Van der Sar) [european championships] 1 assist vs England 1996 [european championships] 2 assists vs Brazil 1996 3 goals (assists: rebound, Numan, F. de Boer), 2 assists vs Wales 1996 [WC qualifiers] 1 goal vs Belgium 1996 (assist: Stam) [WC qualifiers] 1 goal vs France 1997 (no assister) 1 assist vs San Marino 1997 [WC qualifiers] 2 goals vs San Marino 1997 (no assister) [WC qualifiers] 1 goal (assist: Kluivert), 1 assist vs Belgium 1997 [WC qualifier] 1 goal (assist: Winter), 1 assist vs South Korea 1998 [World Cup] 1 assist vs Mexico 1998 [World Cup] 1 goal (assist: F. de Boer) vs Yugoslavia 1998 [World Cup] 1 goal (assist: F. de Boer), 1 assist vs Argentina 1998 [World Cup] 1 goal (assist: Van Hintum) vs Brazil 1999 1 assist vs France 2000 [European championships] 2 assists vs Yugoslavia 2000 [European championships] The problem is they are presented in such a way that people can believe that's all the International assists he got (missing all the others scattered in Puck's list above). In general I like that French Wiki has started adding the assists but it should be made clear the tally is incomplete where it is (ditto on Statbunker, Transfermarkt, the UEFA website although they should really be able to add all the ones for early Champions League years although they hadn't when I looked before anyway and I don't know whether they've rectified that or not). Dennis Bergkamp — Wikipédia (wikipedia.org) I certainly have doubts about the Ajax tallies that Trachta used too, but without knowing what the true figures would be. Maybe the Ajax years should be taken off, but then again that means his calculations would be incomplete career wise. Maybe comparing certain peak seasons (or strings of seasons where the data is verifiable and/or reliable) for players is the best thing overall, just to remove the doubts about whether assist data is incomplete or incorrect in some cases.
I changed it, 150 assists for clubs and 26 assists for NT This is what I have Ajax: 242 games, 18249 minutes, 123 goals and 22 assists 0.607 goals and 0.108 assists per 90m 0.715 G+A Milan: 72 games, 6378 minutes, 22 goals and 12 assists 0.310 goals and 0.169 assists per 90m 0.480 G+A Arsenal: 422 games, 29956 minutes, 120 goals and 116 assists 0.361 goals and 0.349 assists per 90m 0.709 G+A National Team: 79 games, 6351 minutes, 37 goals and 26 assists 0.524 goals and 0.368 assists per 90m 0.893 G+A
Goal + Assists contribution: Ajax: (0.715/2.236) = 31.99% Inter: (0.480/1.347) = 35.61% Arsenal: (0.709/1.825) = 38.86% National Team: (0.893/2.038) = 43.81%
Ok, sorry mate for thinking otherwise! I'd thought the eventual contribution figure looked very similar, but it probably is still quite similar because even though it's a significant amount of NT assists added, the majority of games he played were for clubs of course. So kudos for being open to amending the calculations, and sorry again as I should have checked before suspecting it hadn't yet been done. I do think it's important to try to make sure numbers are accurate, but if you change things when someone provides a better source, like you did here, that's the best you can do. For Ajax, at the moment, I don't have a different source, so even though there can be some doubt I think, I understand that you've used the best data have found thus far. I haven't checked all the Champions League assists to see if you have the Arsenal ones covered for example, but if I get round to it and notice some need adding also I can let you know. Yeah, it's ok re: Milan/Inter - I guess we all knew what you meant.
Or maybe you meant you changed it after I said something (the figure might have risen very slightly overnight it seems). Either way you've done it now anyway! I suppose it makes sense in some respects that his NT contribution % is above his Arsenal one, because he played for Arsenal until a relatively late age, and his goals contribution fell in later years, and in his final season his overall contribution was substantially less all round too.
I can have a go at Platini at Juventus anyway, since I already did it for 84/85 to 86/87 on another thread, for Serie A, so it's a matter of adding 82/83 and 83/84 and all the International club competitions and domestic cups if possible too. @wm442433 has a figure for assists for France of 20 on his site, although the assists definition used might be narrower than your sources judging by the numbers for Henry and Zidane. I think some other guys on here, also French, did discuss this topic in the past and maybe someone even made a Zidane NT assists Youtube video. But anyway, 20 minimum for Platini can be taken as the first guide I guess.
Finishing Serie A assist stats for Platini anyway, using Youtube, with 82/83 and 83/84.... 1982/83 1 assist vs Cesena (h) to Bettega 1 assist vs Napoli (h) to Rossi (also pre-assist for Boniek's 1st goal) 1 assist vs Sampdoria (h) to Bettega 1 assist vs Cesena (a) to Bettega 1 assist vs Fiorentina (h) to Rossi (also pre-assist for the own goal) 1 assist vs Roma (h) to Brio 1 assist vs Cagliari (a) to Boniek One penalty won I think too. I just included assists with no deflections or rebounds etc, and mentioned pre-assists just for the 2nd last pass also with no deflections/rebounds. So it's 7 direct narrow assists to add to his 16 goals (one penalty I think, and 2 additional goals ruled out as a court changed the result from Juventus 3 Inter 3 to Juventus 0 Inter 2). That's 23 out of 49 goals with his goal/narrow assist contribution then in Serie A. I'll add 1983/84 later and find what I'd done for the other Juventus Serie A seasons already.
I'll continue with 1982/83, for other competitions outside Serie A first actually.... Coppa Italia (missing footage for games vs Milan and Padova with 3 Juve goals, plus first game with Roma where Juve score 3 and Platini gets 1 of them, and can't be 100% sure he didn't get an another assist in the other leg): 1 assist vs Roma (a) for Boniek 1 assist vs Inter (h) for the own goal (deflected shot of his) European Cup: 1 assist vs Hvidovre (a) to Cabrini (also gets a pre-assist) 1 assist vs Liege (h) to Rossi 1 assist vs Aston Villa (a) to Boniek 1 asisst vs Lodz (a) to Rossi (about 3 goals I haven't seen from Hivdore (h) and Liege (a), and vs Lodz (h) he does get another pre-assist kind of except the goal goes down as an own goal). So that's another 6 assists minimum to make it 13 in all competitions for Juventus in 82/83.
Sorry here are the links: Football Yesterday & Today: Michel Platini - Statistiques détaillées en Equipe de France (footballyesterdayandtoday.blogspot.com) Football Yesterday & Today: Classement des passeurs décisifs en Equipe de France de football (footballyesterdayandtoday.blogspot.com)
This site has Platini playing all Coppa Italia games in 82/83 btw, and so does French Wiki (as opposed to English Wiki): Michel François Platini giocatore della Juventus (juworld.net) So maybe it's just a case of realising a handful of goals are unidentified assist wise in the Coppa Italia and European Cup, so his contribution % will be a minimum number, but surely very close to correct. I'll leave Trachta to it (and he'll wait for at least all Juventus seasons to be completed I guess), but by my calculation Platini would have minimum 41 goal contributions (including 3 penalties) for Juventus that season (goals and direct narrow assists) within the 90 goals Juventus scored, so a G+A % of about 46% (feasibly the maximum is 56% but unlikely obviously - if he assisted every unidentified goal that he didn't score basically!).
