I'd like to ask you a couple of things regarding Selecao 82, on which I have read different and somewhat contrasting narrations and opinions. Serginho Chulapa said some substitutes would go to Tele' all the time complaining about them not being starters as they would have deserved. Both Serginho and Luizinho hinted at players from Rio State as the ones that were poisoning the atmosphere in the changing room of Selecao, backed by the sport press that was (and I guess still is) much Rio-centric. I have read quite explicit accusations to Edinho (who was suspected to try to belittle Luizinho to the eyes of Tele to take his place as a starter) and maybe Dinamite against Serginho. But there were likely other players involved in this plot. Serginho Chulapa claimed that the team played very well but on the human relationships point of view it was a failure. Do you confirm? PS: also Edinho claimed Eder and Serginho had signed a personal contract with a sponsor that would pay them 1K dollars whenever they had gone celebrating a goal near the advertising billboard of the company. When other players discovered that, they grew pissed off, and this contributed to ruin the chemistry among players. Eder and Serginho reacted to this claim and basically called Edinho a liar and an as***le. Then Edinho said he never meant that, it had been the interviewer to mount the case distorting and imaginatively interpreting his words. All in all it sems to me bad personal relationships did impact a lot on the team performance.

Firstly on Serginho Chulapa .. As I am a declared fan of Pedro Rocha ... Waldir ..P Terto Parana Muricy Ramalho Pedro Rocha Serginho Chulapa ... .. I saw several entire matches on TV Cultura channel 2 from the São Paulo 70s. Serginho Chulapa at his peak was on the same level as Adriano Drunk at his peak too... from 1975-1978 Adriano .... 2003-2006;.. ..... .. Chulapa has phenomenal goals from 1975-1977 and assists too. giving sombreros ..etc.etc.. and dribbles .. But in 1982... Chulapa himself... says... that that World Cup... wasn't for him to play in . Chulapa...says : It was Antonio Careca's moment not mine ... ! But I see... a lot of people ... wrongly treating Serginho Chulapa like a Pé de Rato or cabeça de bagre . That's not true...at all Chulapa... was destroying until 1978...... 1975-1978 technically speaking too... a perfect blend...mixed of Ruud Gullit, Adriano Drunk... 2003-2006 and Dadá Maravilha the hummingbird who stopped in the air always to heading the ball ... .... but equals ..to Adriano Drunk style Of PLay .... .. Terto .... and Pedro Rocha absolutely brilliant and Genius . !
on Brazilian National Team side 1982 World Cup , it was a cast full squad of very very technical players yes, But it never became a real team Tele Santana made a very very common mistake... when a soccer Head-coach or Football Manager manages for the first time...in History Bigger National teams... " incredible Technical sides " You go in with that completely illusory idea on mind that you'll manage the best players in the world, technically speaking. Honestly, I don't condemn Tele Santana for this reason I made the same mistakes several times in Football Manager...2003 until 2021 ... playing You want to deliver the most perfect job and the most original unique work in the history of humanity. ........ .. But national teams are different from clubs... You don't have much time... to implement your professional football philosophy For example, in clubs... you have pre-season...moment ...always June or July... To start, you need to implement the philosophy, the set-piece routines, and the squad assembly according to the philosophy you want to implement... Then... you set up... training sessions... morning... and afternoon... with activities to memorize and automate these routines, set-pieces, and philosophy... Best Training Schedules and routines ...for the Team .. "! I honestly prefer the 1982 Italy squad... It brings more highly interesting tactical elements... How to defend channels or open spaces correctly How to man-marking great players Like Maradona Ramon Diaz Zico ... how to do mixed marking how to assemble the set-pieces correctly ...
...... .. An example of what I'm talking about in practice... Italy squad... 1988 Euro-cup... The Italian coach was disappointed in not taking Evani for Euro-cup 1988 ... Evani's level of set-pieces is extraordinary The secret was to find a great header and a very tall one like Ruud Gullit at AC Milan and take in Pietro Paolo Virdis for Euro_cup 1988 ... to take advantage of the rapport already established at Ac Milan throughout the season because in the national team you won't have enough time to get the gears rolling...like in clubs
It's like Zico said in the video. The right thing to do would be to remove one of the four stars, including Cerezo, Falcão, Zico, Socrates and to putting Tita or Paulo Isidoro Into the place . To tactically balance the team. there were too many chiefs for too a very very few Indians hard-workers at all . "!
Yeah indeed the Magic Square had been tested in preparatory friendlies only once before the world cup started! While Isidoro had been constantly capped and deployed in the previous two years, with very good results. But still I am convinced that replacing Chulapa with Dinamite (and maybe Luizinho with Edinho: Luizinho was a very capable player, but that day looked uncertain and always lagging the italian initiatives) Selecao would have secured a draw at the very least. I agree with you that criticism towards Serginho has been unfair: many called him an hopeless amateur, which is clearly not the case. He is still the greatest Sao Paulo goalscorer ever. And it is true that in that same WC, until the day of Brasil vs Italy, Chulapa was even performing better than Rossi himself. But that day on the pitch he surely appeared a fish out of the water. Tele should have replaced him with Isidoro much earlier. Even more unfair the disapproval towards Waldir. His share of responsibility on the three italian goals was much less that that of the defenders. I would say that he could have done something more only on the second goal: he made a mistake deciding to step to one half of the distance: had he stayed on the goal line, he would have saved the ball. Rossi could have not got much nearer, Falcao was closing in on him.
———————————- Neymar in finals: 21 goals Guarani:4 goals Santo Andre 2 goals Nantes:2 goals Vitoria 1 goal Corinthians 1 goal Penarol:1 goal Universidad de Chile:1 goal Spain:1 goal Atletico Madrid:1 goal Athletic Bilbao:1 goal Juventus:1 goal Sevilla:1 goal Alaves:1 goal Rennes:1 goal Saint Ettienne:1 goal Marseille:1 goal 71.4% of Neymar’s goals in ‘finals’ (15 out of 21) came against teams that 99.9% of European fans would agree are mediocre. Total assists:5 River plate:2 assists Vitoria:1 assist Alaves:1 assist Rennes:1 assist 100% of Neymar’s assists in ‘finals’ came against teams that 99.9% of European fans would agree are mediocre. If this return of 21 goals and 5 assists in 2,857 minutes were produced over a league season absolutely nobody on this planet would describe it as world class once you factor in the level of opposition. It would be seen as decent, maybe even a good season but nothing remotely exceptional and certainly not the output of a player supposedly delivering on the biggest stage. The only reason it’s dressed up as something special here is because it’s spread across matches labelled “finals,” even though the majority of those came against teams that wouldn’t strike fear into a mid table side playing in a top 5 European league. The idea that someone could represent peak Barcelona and still be labelled “clutch” for scoring or assisting against a team like Alavés or be called clutch at Santos for doing it against Santo André or at PSG for doing it against Rennes completely twists and disfigures the meaning of the word beyond recognition. In Neymar’s case literally 71.4% of his goals and 100% of his assists in ‘finals’ came against mediocre or outright weak opposition. That isn’t clutch That’s simply doing what’s expected when playing against vastly inferior opponents. Calling that “clutch” doesn’t just stretch the word it literally empties it of all meaning. But again(repeating myself for the 100th time here) the spreadsheet merchant is ‘brilliant’ at compiling raw numbers yet completely hopeless at understanding what those numbers actually signify. He can tally goals and assists but when it comes to interpreting context he’s as clueless as a Neanderthal trying to play a piano. When your idols idol was Osama bin laden (a notorious Neanderthal cave dweller) the end result is caveman logic. Maradona: “Let's face it: Osama bin Laden is the idol of us all, the only one who can say: 'I'm going to kill those American sons of bitches who oppress the whole world.” pic.twitter.com/3nT7naBKIz— Zach Lowy (@ZachLowy) September 11, 2024 You might not like what Carlito says but Carlito doesn’t lie and Carlito only says it how it is.
well, Frank 73 ..! I would change the Tactical approach at all ! I would focus on much more set-pieces routines " 1 vs 1 in the air " and less football art. with Junior ..Leandro ..Zico ... and mainly Eder ... at Set-pieces ....taking GK- WALDIR .. RB- LEANDRO CD- OSCAR QB - LUIZINHO LB- jUNIOR DM- FALCAO OH - SOCRATES or CEREZO WG - TITA WG -EDER SS - ZICO CF- SERGINHO CHULAPA .... EDER .. TO TOOK THE SET-PIECES TAKING .. FOCUSING ON SERGINHO CHULAPA OR CD-OSCAR OR SOCRATES or Cerezo BY THE HEIGHT ! attacking ...near post ... Six Yards Area Zone and attacking far post ....
Serginho Chulapa No need to leave the Team completely ..] changing the Tactical approach changes everything ! ... I would have called up more players from the 1981 Flamengo squad. The core of the team.
on Italy 1982 vs on Italy 1990 i honestly prefer Italy Squad ...1982 .. and 1990 The Italian national team players from 1990 to me are overrated... so too much ! Gk- Dino Zoff > Walter Zenga RB- Claudio Gentile >= Bergomi CD- Collovatti > Ferri QB-LiBero - Gaetano Scirea >= Franco Baresi LB- Antonio Cabrini >= ........ Paolo Maldini dm- Orialli > De Napoli dm-oh ... Marco Tardelli > Giannini Bruno Conti ... >= Roberto Donadoni De Agostini ..... == ....Giancarlo Antognoni Paolo Rossi ........... > ...Schillaci Toto Gianluca Vialli .......... >= ...Graziani ,,,,,................
Goals Scored Together for the National Team (Assisting each other) Puskás-Kocsis: 35 Messi-Di María: 11 Pelé-Garrincha: 2
Mané Garrincha had a style of play very unique, very different and very very one-dimensional like Carlito 86 always said here .. But even so... The balance is very positive playing with Pelé. They have never lost a match in 40 matches or something like that . .... .. Sandor Kocsis the HUngarian Golden Header and Di maria are very very underrated players on my view .. Di Maria Uefa Champions League .. 2013-2014 .... season .. was amazing at all on my view ... playing as a Mezzala role .. .. the best player of Real Madrid ... by incredible job at Work-Rate .. "! Ferenc Puskas ...Edson Arantes Pelé and.. Lionel Messi ... . are true global phenomena Puskas is treated unfairly by the older Spanish press itself... treating him as just a Poacher or just one great Top-Goal-Scorer... forgetting all the work done by Honved and the Hungarian National Team...side years ... .. 1948-57 .. I see older Spaniards treating him... largely because of his image from the 1962 World Cup ... ... ..
Garrincha wasn't really unidimensional this is bullshit narrative, England game is the prove of his versatility, it's the game that he got nullified on the wings and what happened? He goes more centrally dribbles better than he did in the wings and score 2 goals won the game by himself and does the same in the next game vs Chile, but ye him and Pele wasn't a attack duo like people think and Garrincha usually assists Vavá way more than Pelé
This demonstrates the strength of the Brazilian national team of 1958 and 1962. Garrincha and Pelé were like two independent forces, each with great potential to decide a match with their actions. In the '58 final, the Swedes must have been stunned when Pelé scored Brazil's third goal, completely unexpectedly, with a brilliant play, because they must have spent the halftime break discussing how to stop Garrincha's runs down the right flank, and then Pelé appeared for the third goal... How to stop both players? In '62, Pelé dominated the match against Mexico, Garrincha didn't appear much. But he was there, his potential ready to explode, which happened later with Pelé's injury. The '62 team was the aging team of '58, but Pelé and Garrincha were ready to make that team still very strong, thanks to this independence in their actions. In fact, in the December 1999 issue, Placar magazine compiled a list of the 10 best players of the 20th century chosen by 10 international magazines. Among the top 10 in the list are Pelé (1st) and Garrincha (7th): they are the only two, at this level, who played together on a national team.
