Here is a breakdown of total minutes for these 3 competitions:

    - **-1:** 37 minutes
    "

    So clutch minutes total is 464+37 = 501 minutes. That is 501/90 = 5,57 90s...

He had a total g/a of 13 (your data). Divided with 5,57 it is 2,33 g/a per 90' in clutch situations.

For comparison his other 8 g/a came in non-clutch situations meaning he made 0,78 g/a per 90' in non-clutch situations.

Now imagine stat like that for whole career.. now we talking...

Now this is obviously inflated for Messi due to penalties and certainly isnt the case all the time, but you can see Messi playing much better in "clutch" situations in these three competitions.

Crzay stat is that in all 3 comeptitions Argentina was trailing only for 37 minutes. This has to be one of the best national teams of all time. They continue the form after world cup as well and still going.

This is data I got with few minutes chat with chatgpt without providing any data myself so it is feasible to do so for big tournaments:

Let's carefully go through all the match data to ensure an accurate breakdown of Diego Maradona's playing time during Argentina's 1986 World Cup campaign:

    ### Group Stage:
    1. **Argentina vs South Korea (3-1)**
    - **Goals:** 6' (Argentina: Valdano), 18' (Argentina: Ruggeri), 46' (Argentina: Valdano), 73' (South Korea: Park)

    - 2: 79-90 (Two Goals Lead)

    ### Round of 16:
    4. **Argentina vs Uruguay (1-0)**
    - **Goal:** 42' (Argentina: Pasculli)
    - **Match Situations:**
    - 0: 0-42 (Tied)
    - 1: 43-90 (One Goal Lead)

    ### Quarterfinals:
    5. **Argentina vs England (2-1)**
    - **Goals:** 51' (Argentina: Maradona), 55' (Argentina: Maradona), 81' (England: Lineker)
    - **Match Situations:**
    - 0: 0-51 (Tied)
    - 1: 52-55 (One Goal Lead)
    - 2: 56-81 (Two Goals Lead)
    - 1: 82-90 (One Goal Lead)

    ### Semifinals:
    6. **Argentina vs Belgium (2-0)**
    - **Goals:** 51' (Argentina: Maradona), 63' (Argentina: Maradona)
    - **Match Situations:**
    - 0: 0-51 (Tied)
    - 1: 52-63 (One Goal Lead)
    - 2: 64-90 (Two Goals Lead)

    ### Final:
    7. **Argentina vs West Germany (3-2)**
    - **Goals:** 23' (Argentina: Brown), 56' (Argentina: Valdano), 74' (Germany: Rummenigge), 80' (Germany: Völler), 83' (Argentina: Burruchaga)
    - **Match Situations:**
    - 0: 0-23 (Tied)
    - 1: 24-56 (One Goal Lead)
    - 2: 57-74 (Two Goals Lead)
    - 1: 75-80 (One Goal Lead)
    - 0: 81-83 (Tied)
    - 1: 84-90 (One Goal Lead)

    ### **Final Breakdown of Maradona's Total Minutes in Each Match Situation:**

    1. **-1 (Trailing):** 34 minutes
    - (0-34 vs Italy)

    2. **0 (Tied):** 283 minutes
    - (0-6 vs South Korea)
    - (35-90 vs Italy)
    - (0-3 vs Bulgaria)
    - (0-42 vs Uruguay)
    - (0-51 vs England)
    - (0-51 vs Belgium)
    - (0-23 & 81-83 vs West Germany)

    3. **1 (One Goal Lead):** 128 minutes
    - (7-18 vs South Korea)
    - (4-78 vs Bulgaria)
    - (43-90 vs Uruguay)
    - (52-55 & 82-90 vs England)
    - (52-63 vs Belgium)
    - (24-56 & 84-90 vs West Germany)

    4. **2 (Two Goals Lead):** 95 minutes
    - (19-46 vs South Korea)
    - (79-90 vs Bulgaria)
    - (56-81 vs England)
    - (64-90 vs Belgium)
    - (57-74 vs West Germany)

    5. **3 (Three Goals Lead):** 27 minutes
    - (47-73 vs South Korea)

This breakdown now correctly reflects the match situations and ensures that all data points are accurate, particularly in highlighting when Argentina was trailing in the tournament.

I see a mistake with Italy game, but this can be checked and corrected.

Ideal data would be an x-y graph where at y-axis you put CG/A% (clutch g/a percantage) relative to team and on x-axis is clutch g/a per 90' minutes. To do that for big tournaments of great players, which i believe you have already game by game data, would reveal true stand out, clutch performers.. just throwing around some ideas. You can use ai to analyze spreadsheets of full match history to spit out total minutes in each match situation.

I've given you a rep Carlito, partly for recognition of the work involved in making it, and partly as a kind of olive branch maybe. Probably I would find it easier (even with him not being my cup of tea as a player in certain respects as you know) if those allegations had been cleared up (even proved to be made up or something), but anyway I can overlook them and assign the rep to you for your work put in like I say in this case.

I think, judging by a previous post you made, and a couple of so of examples I spotted in the opening few minutes of the video, you basically included pre-assists and pre-pre-assists if we put it that way (up to 2 passes before the assist) and included some mild deflections maybe too? The Michael Laudrup La Liga posts I made definitely have the pre-assists, and I might have mentioned most of the pre-pre-assists and/or instances with deflections, but I couldn't be sure about that to be honest (the focus was on assists at the time but I was mentioning pre-assists including some notable wider ones as an aside because there were quite a few of course, while I was making the lists of assists - for what it's worth I think the assists tally with Spainish clubs went up by 2 since I last posted on this thread about it, witn an additional Copa del Rey one identified from a report and one pre-assist converted to a full assist, when I established/realised Nadal seems to be credited with a second goal (rather than it being an own goal), both assisted by Laudrup, in one game...as I've posted about on the other thread which partly prompted you to think about pre-assists and pre-assisted goals anyway I think).

This might be the most extensive video compilation composed purely of pre-assists, in terms of the raw numbers. Great work. I'll assume it is okay to start the inevitable comparisons with other players, since the upcoming self pre-assisted goal compilation will probably fuel comparisons with Lionel Messi (the current aspirational standard for self-pre-assited goals) anyways.

There seems to be a person as equally dedicated to the concept for Lionel Messi, so maybe it is an interesting comparison.

Statistiques on X: "@BayernLM10 @HariFCMessi All his last passes to an opta assist (not including when he scored the goal) https://t.co/whv8YS0SMe" / X (twitter.com)

Statistiques on X: "@AlvaroPizza @BayernLM10 @PLAYERLOLO21 No, this include only when others scored. But here are his pre-assists when he scored the goal too (103 before this season) : https://t.co/cpvmiMf4r5" / X (twitter.com)

Data from 2004/2005 to 2019/2020 (not sure if he ever updated his data, or included his national team games).

    1) 112 pre-assists (maybe the tally is incorrect, but I think this is the number) to OPTA assists that was converted by teammates.
    2) 103 pre-assists to OPTA assists that was converted by himself. Basically a self-pre-assisted goal tally.

I am not sure if these were truly all OPTA assists, or if there were any deflections/own-goals/penalties involved. I couldn't find any YouTube compilations that comprehensively contains all of these pre-assists for Lionel Messi, so video confirmation seems to be left for the viewer to verify one by one.

    #Ainuts on X: "@RamyZe Pre-assists Kings - 1. Lee Dixon - 73, 2. Dennis Bergkamp - 71, 3. Cesc Fabregas - 70, 4. Patrick Vieira - 66, 5. Thierry Henry - 58" / X (twitter.com)

Vimeo All of Cesc Fabregas' Pre-Assists for Arsenal

There are also tallies for Arsenal careers (or selective Wenger-era portion of it) pre-assist counts also available on the net. Cesc Fabregas in particular has a video compilation (62 pre-assists, including ones to himself) that combines both types of pre-assists. The video maker said he missed out a couple, so maybe the tally made by another Twitter user that claims 70 pre-assists (probably involving ones to himself also) is not that far from the truth.

I think these three, are the players I have seen substantial amounts of pre-assists, combined with a fan-base dedicated enough to make a video compilation for, or write a detailed list for the pre-assists for (all with various alterations in the methodology of tallying).
