The overnight temperature in Boston was 1 degree. 1 freaking degree. And with windchill it felt like a balmy 25 below.

Don't give me any of this global warming crap.

But, you must break it down over a 100 year span, see. So, if this was 1903 instead of 2003 the overnight temperature in Boston would've been zero degrees, not one. See, doesn't that put it into perspective for you? Global warming is a huge problem. Be afraid, be very afraid.

No thanks to Detriot, Ian? :)

This is a rather strong "El Niño" year which is a natural occurance that has been noticed to bring rain to Sourthern California and cold to the North East USA.

These known trends don't really change the overall patterns which seems to support some sort of global warming in general.

It's the first time here this winter that we are actually freezing our asses off.

I'm just glad actual winter weather (more snow would be nice) has returned to the midwest. S***t, last time this year I was on a golf course in shorts and a long sleeve tee-shirt...and I am in the same place I was last year.

Well, let's say that my blood has thinned since I moved out of New Hampshire.

Speaking of thin skin, don't try driving a car here if you have thin skin, that's for sure.

Still not snowing in Columbus. :(

No surprise it is cold down there. :)

    Temperatures forecast at 850hpa hght
    http://weather.unisys.com/mrf/9panel/mrf_850_9panel.html

The 850 mb chart shows weather conditions at the 850 mb level or around 5000 feet above sea level. The parameters plotted are temperatures in Celsius (in color contours), heights in white lines and winds plotted as vectors.

I gotta agree with how cold it is - dipped below 60 degrees last night. And it's windy enough that it's slightly uncomfortable to eat my lunch outside, so I have to bring it in to the plaza or back to my desk.

Haven't you people invented SHELTER yet? You still living in CAVES, for Christ's sake?

Or is this some bizarre variation on Hutchence-ing yourself, where you get the best orgasm right before it turns black from hypothermia and falls off?

    Central Park South,
Not to worry. It will be a particularly hot summer. I don't know when maybe this year, next or the year after. At that point the environmentalists (who have a memory of about 2 seconds) will start complaining how unusually warm it is and that proves global warming.

No more than a particularly cold winter disproves it.

You see, this is an example of irony.
