Gavin Glinton's jaw-dropping volley that almost went through the back of the net was number eight on the ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 list. A worthy addition I might add. Good to see a little coverage coming MLS' way with this great shot. Anybody else see it? Will there be a better goal this season in MLS?
if you saw my reaction on the board you could guess my answer...i literally screamed "OHHHHHHHH!" so loud my dad ran in the bedroom thinking I hurt myself or something...I never saw a faster shot in my life...
I finally got to see GG's goal on MLSNet.com and what a rocket that was. Brilliant! The goal by Dallas's Davis was good too. Something must've been in the air cuz it looked like it was going to go out of play. Of course, I voted for GG's goal, but I'm surprised that it has 77% at this time followed by Agoos's at 13%.
Agoos' shot...lovely...but Busch moved way late.... Davis....you'll see many more like that from his rocket left leg.... Glinton....very nice...but not the most technically difficult shot....ball was set up perfectly for him to run onto.... Mullan....very classy....technically the most impressive shot....my choice for goal of the week... Twellman...nice poach
In keeping with form and tradition, I'm going to nay say this guy one more time. Luck, my friend. Galaxy fans have watched Mullan rocket sitters left, right, and over the goal many, many times. As further evidence, go to the Quake board, read the post match Quake v. Crew and count the number of posts that speak of Mullan's hattrick of missed sitters. Luck.
Gooner....what level of play did u reach? Best goal u ever scored? Or do u even play? Mullan's shot went off exactly as he intended...his previous and future efforts have no bearing on how well taken this shot was....
mullan's goal was not a shot, he even said so after the game...he was going for a cross and it got away from him and found the back of the net. so i guess it didn't quite go off exactly as he intended as you might have thought there slick.
I didn't realize I had to read post match interviews to comment on a goal that has been posted as goal of the week...usually it's a safe assumption that such a goal was in fact intended as a shot....thanx for the 411 Fiddlestick
Glinton scored quite a few goals during the pre-season. Has he been playing many minutes with the Galaxy? I was hoping that his scoring streak would carry over to the regular season and that maybe the U.S. nats would have another option at striker. Still, I saw the goal and it bodes VERY well at least for his future.
Actually, he scored 2. Both against Lyn in the La Magna Cup Last saturday against NE was his first action of the season (came on as a sub) and the Dallas match was his first start since.....um...did he get a start last season??? Anyway, he's still not even close to 100% fitness so it'll be interesting to see what happens by the time June 7th rolls around.
There is something magic about that spot at Dragon stadium... O'Brien's goal in week 1... Twellman's goal 2 weeks ago... Glinton's goal Saturday.... Davis's goal Saturday.... It's a sweet spot at Dragon Stadium... As for will we see better? I think we already have, but it was a great goal, good not to see it kicked high into the parking lot, or row 72 ..... James
I thought he had scored more goals for some reason. I think he was used mostly in a sub's role last year. Perhaps he's not the scoring sensation I thought he would be, but his goal was a true blast!
As I said, luck. Had Mullan actually attempted to put the ball where it ended up, some poor kid in the stands level with the top of the 18 would have had his clock cleaned. By the way, fidlerre, I much preferred Keira's solo act in your avatar. No need to change a good thing.
yea i had to switch it up a bit...only one lady just wasn't doing it for me. BOT: i finally got to see the shot last night when i downloaded it from mlsnet.com and damn that was nice, i can now see why treetaliano scared the living crap out of his father...
Yes, he was born there. But the LA Galaxy website lists him as being a U.S. citizen. Check out http://www.lagalaxy.com/team/gavinglinton.php for his bio.
Thanks for the download, Treetaliano. Who was on the broadcast team? Outstanding call on that golazo: "Gavin Glinton... has unleashed a goal from the heavens". Un-@#$%-ing believable shot
You may be thinking of his debut when he came on and earned LA a penalty (Fish scored) to get LA the win. Then in his second match, he came on and scored a couple of minutes in (the winner as well) Or at least those are the goals I remember from him last season.
That is the inimitable Max Bretos. From Fox Sportsworld and part of your LA Galaxy TV announcer team. And a great call.
