Werder Bremen interested in taking Chong on loan? https://utdreport.co.uk/2020/08/05/werder-bremen-interested-in-signing-tahith-chong-on-loan/?amp=1 While I support all the other candidates for loan this coming season to go and cut their teeth in the Championship, Chong is definitely the one I hope goes abroad. And the Buli or back home in the Eredivisie would be the top choices. Bremen were terrible last term, saving themselves by the skin of their teeth but it could be a club where he'd have a genuine chance at playing (and hopefully take some real strides in his development). Remains to be seen whether his long term future is at United but let's give it a real shot and provide him with genuine opportunities for him to show what he's got.. Thought he did well enough in his cameo today vs LASK also. Tahith Chong's agent held talks with Werder Bremen's Frank Baumann (sporting director) and Clemens Fritz at the Weser Stadium on Tuesday. A loan agreement should be reached shortly #mulive [bild]— utdreport (@utdreport) August 5, 2020
I've watched Werden some. I am not impressed with Kohlfeld. I was glad to see Tahith playing RB. He did not look out of place, although he didn't have to defend much. He might come to be an excellent WB.
Left back, but yes. That's actually where I think he's most likely to have an impact for a club of our stature unless his development kicks it up a notch in the next year.
I agree with the latter half of your post, but remember he's still a kid. I expect him to become smarter and make better use of his teammates. I think if he got moved to 8 in a team that played on the break he would be a weapon. He's incredibly fast and he makes good decisions in terms of where to run and when to release the ball.
Back where they belong. The Premier League are expected to confirm that 2019/20 academy league standings will be concluded on points-per-game basis, meaning Manchester United U23s are set to be promoted— utdreport (@utdreport) August 6, 2020
Mengi reflects on his first team debut. https://utdreport.co.uk/2020/08/06/...-the-start-after-his-manchester-united-debut/ Very happy he got his first team bow yesterday. Expect big things from him at U23 level for the upcoming season. Definitely way up there amongst the youngsters I look forward to see developing in the near future.
I hope Nicky Butt and the rest of the staff can secure loan moves for our promising kids sooner rather than later. Obviously a lot of teams have strained finances so loans would be helpful or they may have to sell before they can buy and as such don't know where they loanees to fill out their squads. However the benefit of being in place in time for preseason fitness work and the squad building and tactical portion of preseason is invaluable at this stage of their development. Rumour has it that Garner is likely to go to Bournemouth or Swansea (both seemingly good fits) but again, sooner better than later. A good loan for Garner and Levitt could be huge for their development.
Would love to see Garner at Swansea. Their manager lead the England U17's to a WC and has done a good job with Brewster and a few other youngsters.
I know it is blasphemy, but Leeds are severely underfunded and their squad is paper thin. They could use a couple loanees and a year with Bielsa is probably worth 3 with someone else. I'd love it one of our kids went there.
I love Bielsa so I think it would do anyone of them good. Laird or Mengi would be under real pressure to be better defenders. I think Garner could improve too.
Mengi should not be going out on loan just yet IMO. We're already looking at a few players who will be taken from the U23 team. We still want it to be pretty competitive (especially having earned promotion back in the top flight). Not to mention he's still 18 as well: there's still time for him before being sent out on loan to another club. Laird, Chong, Levitt and Garner are the prime candidates for loan stints this coming season.
Neil Wood on the club's plans for some of our U23 players. https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/it-...the-23s-the-man-utd/s3yh961e0xpf1eufiyqycdb1f Bernard is not talked as much as the others (and probably is a longshot to make it at United) , but it is definitely time for him as well. A real shame btw about Mellor who has suffered another knee injury (ACL) and will be out of action for a long time...
Let's hope the move is a productive one for Chong. Tahith Chong has arrived for his first training session with #Werder 🟢⚪️ #Zillerdeich2020 @TahithC pic.twitter.com/47Q93UOieB— SV Werder Bremen EN (@werderbremen_en) August 16, 2020
Almost certainly an attacker for them, most likely on the right. They were awful at scoring goals last year, like maybe a little over a goal a game. They need help in attack. They don't create enough shots or activity in the box and I think he'll probably play a big role for them.
Appears that Henderson could be with the first team next season (unless we were to secure another loan destination for him). That definitely looks like a goodbye to Sheffield...
He's going to leave: there is reportedly serious interest from a few clubs (Chelsea, Everton, Leeds among others). Plus, it is also believed he didn't take too kindly about being left out vs Seville (can't really blame him for that either).
Yes, I don't believe there would be any reason for him to stay, the way things have transpired since the restart. He deserves to play.
If we play this right (no chance) Romero would be our most salable asset. He's in his prime for a GK and an excellent performer. He should fetch 30M possibly, but I suspect if we do sell him, we'll only get 12M.
Unless there is a club option for another year (which is possible), Romero's United contract expires next summer, which is probably a big reason why there is so much interest in him (that and the fact that he is a solid keeper to boot). With no option, he's sure to go pretty cheap: even as a backup, he'd be an excellent and economical buy for several teams around.
