The main criticism of Pogba at 17 is the same as now. He never fixed that or addressed it. Predicting PP to become a world bearer at 17 and saying you called it 8 years later is hilarious.
He's a ********ing world beater. He looked like he'd be one when he was 15 or 16. He was immensely talented and could do everything on the pitch. There's not a single skill on the ball that he's not good at. Touch, short passing, long passing, dribbling, shooting, heading, tackling, shielding... like he's a ********ing machine. The main criticism of Pogba at 17 was stupid and it remains stupid. People STILL arguing that he doesn't do enough when he led United in almost every meaningful stat in attack/possession is amazing. He literally cannot win. Like, there's nobody who does what he does. You can say there are midfielders out there who contribute more in possession or more in attack or more off the ball or more in defense, but he's literally a do everything player. That he was able to achieve what he has at United despite being saddled w/ Mourinho for most of his time here is nothing short of amazing. The minute Mourinho left he exploded and people have already forgotten. Yall are trash.
Yes, he can be a world beater. But I think we must be honest in that Pogba leading United in all the stats that he does, demonstrates how poor United have been overall.
United not giving up on Gomes and Chong, but are facing a tall task to keep them at the club. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...d-pair-angel-gomes-tahith-chong-open-leaving/
Garner was back for today's U23 game vs West Ham: still no Levitt who was not ready to take part. Chong and Gomes didn't make the squad either (with tomorrow's game in mind presumably). United lost 2-0 to the strongest team in the division (West Ham are first). Arguably was the worst game of the season for this group tbh.
Borthwick-Jackson has been recalled from his loan to Tranmere. Worth noting also that Demi Mitchell has finally returned to injury not too long ago.
Well done from Chong. Big congrats to @TahithC, who has won the #PL2 Player of the Month award for December! Nicely done, Chongy 🙌🙌 pic.twitter.com/lPi5THbobu— Manchester United (@ManUtd) January 10, 2020
U23s lineup vs Newcastle: Carney, Laird, Bailly, Bernard, Mengi, Fosu-Mensah, Garner, Puigmal, Traore, Mejbri, Mellor. Subs: Mastny, Devine, Taylor, Levitt, McGhee. Interesting lineup with Bailly and Timmy starting, as expected (Timmy playing in a holding capacity in a mid 2 next to Garner). Mejbri starting is a nice surprise. No Gomes and Chong, with them possibly being a part of the senior squad over the weekend.
More to the point, it will be interesting to see how he does in midfield, in a role he presumably hasn't played in going on 4yrs now. He was a so good there, a natural even at youth level prior to being called up. Anxious to see whether there's any indication he's still got it like that. Especially playing alongside Garner.
Garner has been but one of the team's shining lights today. Bailly (played an hour before being subbed) and Timmy looking good on their return as well. 2-0, with just under half an hour left in this one. Our #MUAcademy U23s go 2-0 up v Newcastle after this super strike from James Garner! 🤩 Watch the rest of the action live on #MUTV: https://t.co/WLM2yyAmpa pic.twitter.com/6flC1WkMzQ— Manchester United (@ManUtd) January 10, 2020
United won this one 2-1. Newcastle pulled one back at the death, following a mistake from Mejbri, who otherwise has been very, very good once again. Really encouraging returns for Bailly and especially Timmy, who was pretty composed at DCM, but with his typical high energy self (made one great run early in the 2nd half he should have on). Bailly is just Bailly: he's Beastmode and it was wise to have him play only an hour. 😅 @EricBailly24 easing himself back into action on his return from injury...#MUFC #MUAcademy pic.twitter.com/E6y4itNBEI— Manchester United (@ManUtd) January 10, 2020
Glazernomics would be to find a reason to say DDG doesn't fit with our system, sell him then pocket the money and to replace him with a younger player on a much smaller salary. So Dean could have a bright future with us
Has there been any news about y Romero did not play the cup game? If he wasn't injured for it, it seems a very curious move.
Exclusive: Inter just met in Milano with the agent of Tahit Chong. He’ll be free agent on next June and has been offered to the Italian club. Many teams interested in him. 🔴 #MUFC #ManUnited #Inter #transfers pic.twitter.com/xOy3nGKdQI— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 14, 2020
Honestly if he spoke the language, a loan to Sporting wouldn't be an bad idea in return for Fernandes. Somewhere in Eredivisie/Championship/lower PL probably a better idea though.
don't get it either. especially if folks believe Solskjær is as bad and tactically inept they say he is, well, that's not the environment for Chong to succeed in is it? i think he needs a run of games at a high level (probably elsewhere or upper table championship) for us to really gauge his true level sarcasm right?
It may be a mental thing for Chong, but whenever he's with the first team he makes all the wrong decisions, fails to beat players 1v1, has a poor touch and misses sitters. It is almost definitely mental in some respects, but his technical deficiencies seem constant rather than the result of him being raw. If we had 18 months to go on his contract then we could loan him out, but we don't. We cannot loan him or Gomes and expect them to come back, not unless they sign a contract with us first.
