This Newcastle thing doesn't seem for real.

Yeah, seems like nonsense. Like anybody is going to make an investment like that in times of financial crisis. I would expect the club to be way undervalued at this moment.

This is the longer interview where that quote is from. Pretty good and honest conversation from Gareth

He talks about golf in every interview. He has way more passion for that than he does playing for Real Madrid.

That’s my honest opinion. I could be wrong who knows...

One thing that’s hard to argue with is to describe his performances for us this year as passionate. He plays like ass & doesn’t appear to give 2 f*cks about it...

How often do you talk about your job? What is there even there to talk about right now? We haven't even played for months. I listen to Kroos' podcast whenever he uploads one and he doesn't speak about Real Madrid for the most part either. It's a job. Pique has been involved with Tennis more than football outside of his duties at Barca recently.

i didn't even hear the interviiew, but i wouldn't really expect anything out of it. A lot of times football players' personal developement stops at about 16/17 when they turn pro.

Bale is washed up by now, but for most players, football is a job after +15 years of playing pro football.

    I think it's possible

Golf seems to be quite an addictive sport.

I mean tons of athletes from other sports put in hours but you have to be kidding yourself to think that a player wins multiple CL trophies, scores in multiple CL final, Cup finals, plays a leading role in his national team without having the passion for it. That's a ton of hard work that you can't half ass.

But he has had a long career and enjoyed success. He also seems to be in an undesirable situation in Madrid.

It doesn't make him a criminal if he is more into golf than his club at this moment and totally plausible

Our hobbies are generally more exciting than our work to us. Obviously the experience for Valverde is very different now than it is for Bale or Modric.

I'm not sure what Bale doesn't understand. He knows he doesn't have the passion for it, he is happy to be open about it. It is clear to see on the pitch too. So disinterested. But he is still confused about getting booed?

The fans want to see passion for the shirt. Along with work rate and skill. But passion is what makes Ramos, Pepe, Casemiro, Ronaldo, Marcelo etc etc etc adored above some others. I get that it's a 'job'. But he is one of the highest paid people doing the job at one of the famous clubs in the world. Sorry but there are some demands that go along with that.

Wouldn't it be nice to just turn up, kick the ball about a bit, get cheered by fans he does not even share the same passion with and then just ******** off and play golfy golfy.

Uh, how is he "happy to be open about it"?

His best days are surely in the past but its really weird how most people try to turn him into a villain or a horrible person.

It's not weird. The man literally decided to go into semi-retirement while playing in the biggest club and earning most of the biggest wages in the world.

It's strange you're even defending this.

You're pissed that he demands to play and start and at the same time say that he's gone into retirement. Which is it?

I'm not calling him a horrible person, didn't mean to upset you.

I just find it strange he isn't more reflective of the criticism he gets. I think the criticism is more than valid because he frustrates me with his lack of passion and work rate. He just never had that connection to the fans. Or try to make one.
