You look around and see who is being signed for 100M nowadays and Hazard is definitely in that tier if not better. Pipita, Coutinho, Dembele, Greizmann, Lukaku, Pogba?

 

Sure, but it's more useful to compare transfer fees with others in the current market than to others we've made in the past when things were very different. We had very decent squad planning which made us avoid big signings since getting James in 2014, but had we needed to buy players we would've shattered our transfer record every summer.

AS: Bale will face his departure again this summer but he is contracted until 2022 & is not willing to lower an iota from his €14.5m net yearly salary. He had agreed to a Chinese move last year and there are few teams who will be able to afford him in Europe.
