Must be nice to have an unlimited budget. Seriously though I think Giuly would have stayed at Monaco had the club given him the sign that they wanted to keep him and that they were gonna keep their good players and remain competitive. They gave him nothing so he felt he had to get out of there. Its a shame too because no league title, no champions league title, he kinda left on a very low note.
Finals of the CL is a high note for a team like Monaco. This team will be remembered fairly with previous regimes like the Henry, Trez team.
Barca doesn't have an unlimited Budget trust me, Giuly was a great leader for Monaco, his injury vs Porto is probably the only reason why Monaco did not do more in the CL Final.
Well it doesnt seem that way from the outside looking in. What you see from the outside is a team that has all stars sitting on the bench !!! It leads you to believe they spend whatever it takes it win and they're not concerned about over spending.
Actually, if you poke your nose around you'll see that Barca are offloading some of those stars + not signing Davids. They're not exactly saying why but given the huge debt they face, they're likely lessening their wage bill to help pay it down.
Exactly. We can't even match Tottenham's wage offer for Davids. I still believe he'll stay with us though.
NO its not the only one reason... but i agree its an important reason, because their game was different after that. More predictable by Porto's excellent defensive organisation. You have to not care about these rumours (as almost every rumours). Deschamps was Juventus coach for everyone 2 days ago ! Then it's Capello. But everyone can dream. I really see Giuly in the Barca style. Like a small Romario, explosive on first steps. Adding him to Trezeguet, you will have something that looks like Giuly-Morientes, but Trezeguet is more lethal feet scorer and less creator. Something says to me than Rothen's style is very appreciated in Barca, if Overmars go.
I think Monaco should be getting more money for him than what has been reported. Seems a little low to me. With all due respect to Morientes Giuly is Monaco's best player on a Champions League finalist and at 27, 28 yr olds he is in his prime. Dont give Barcelona a bargin make them pay what he is worth.
They say it now, but before the transfer I don't remember Giuly being linked to Barca. With Overmars leaving Barca, maybe Rothen could be the target. Just speculation on our part.
Good Rothen interview. http://www.football365.fr/infos_clubs/monaco/story_139460.shtml He mentions his dream is to play for PSG One speaks about you to Inter Milan and, especially, with the PSG the next season. What can you say to us above there? Not much more. There are talks between my leaders, still in the blur as for the future of the trainer, and the leaders of other clubs. I hope that that will be regulated as fast as possible. If I am fixed quickly, in particular before the beginning of the Euro, that will be better for everyone. If that spends a little more time than envisaged, I will disregard all that to concentrate on this competition so important to live in a career. If my transfer or the fact that I remain in Monaco should be done only in three weeks one month, I will put that on side and I will concentrate on the team of France. "If Deschamps had signed in Juve, it would not have sought anything to include/understand" Is the PSG always a club which makes you as much dream? Yes, that remains a club which makes me desire because it is the club of which I was to support when I was kid. For several years, I have been always attentively the results of the PSG. It is an attracting club. It is clear that if I must leave Monaco to go in a French club, I will not airai nowhere elsewhere than in Paris. After, if, for various reasons, that must be the foreigner, that will be the foreigner. If I must remain in Monaco, where there remain to me two years of contract, I do it. I will think of all that, but it is clear that Paris, that does something to me. Especially what the PSG will dispute the League of the Champions the next season, without passing by the preliminary turn? In any event, when you tasted with the League of the Champions, you want of the rejouer each year. When you are a young footballer, to dream you only of one thing: to live matches like that. I had the chance to live them this year and I hope to revive them every year until the end of my career. If I must change club, that will be inevitably for a club which plays the League of the Champions. Because it is there that you take really large kif. They is marvellous of living environments like that. In large stages like the Park of the Princes or the stages foreign, that would be even more fantastic. Would you be tempted to continue the adventure with Didier Deschamps if ever there remained trainer of Monaco? Not, I do not see myself at all like that. My future is not related to that of Didier Deschamps. Even if it were to leave and me to remain in Monaco or the reverse, it is not that which will influence my choice. We have all of the different futures, the coach too. If it had signed in Juve, it would not have sought to include/understand if so-and-so left or remained. Ca does not look at me. It does what it wants. And, me, I do what I want.
Overmars to Nantes eh ? Whats with Toulouse and Nantes spending money on good players now ? They weren't really known for spending any money before.
