Anyone notice how right after the goal, Reyna shakes off Jedi's attempted hug - not to continue a goal celebration, but to give him PROLONGED EYE CONTACT. For a second I was thinking they were going to lock lips LOL. Great to see there's no lingering bad feelings between Reyna and his team mates.

I would pay money (OK, not a lot) to see Reyna with a mohawk

First thing I thought of as soon as it went in the back of the net.

I also noticed Sebastian Berhalter being one of the first players on the team to run over and celebrate and hug him.

I think it’s undeniable that he seems like he’s lost something physically and it’s why he didn’t get a ton of playing time with his club.

But it’s also true he can do things like the goal he scored last night which pretty much no one else on the team can do. Don’t think he’s going to go 90 in this tournament but maybe he creates a moment of magic off the bench when we really need a goal at some point.

The 3D app shows sprint speeds in real-time on the full game replay. It's available on BBC in the UK, I'm not sure if it's on Fox.

Just watched the replay and Gio's goal at the end seemed to be in slow motion but it was a beauty.

How can that be true if the team literally voted to send him home (as was reported by Gregg himself?) Unless I misunderstood that?

Reyna apologized, the others accepted his apology.

They're grown men who probably haven't given it another thought, unlike some posters here.

He got to do the “announce the pregnancy” ball as baby bump thing in one of the greatest World Cup performance by the USA men’s team ever.

Maybe we’ll see that baby in a USA World Cup team in 20 years lol.

Sebastian seems to have his dad’s coach-level maturity/mindset.

I’m happy for Gio, he showed why he’s here. Such a creative and valuable player.

With that said: him getting into it behind the play with a Paraguayan and having to have Tyler Adams, of all people, play the peacemaker shows he still needs to work on controlling his emotions.

Similarly, I physically cringed when I read this quote from The Athletic today:

It was especially perfect because Reyna’s parents (former U.S. international players Claudio and Danielle) and Chloe had “been telling me to shoot” more often and “be a bit selfish at times,” Reyna added.

I’m not sure which is worse—his parents saying that, or Gio sharing it publicly.

To be clear: I’m happy he’s here and wish him nothing but the best. But probably best to leave Mom and Dad’s advice to be selfish out of the public domain given his/their history…

The players NEVER voted on anything about Reyna.
The staff voted to keep him.

You have been drowned in misinformation and media created drama. This is not to say that Gio did not behave as a spoiled brat -- he did. But there was never any tension with other players.

GGG Berhalter was also dumb to mention this internal matter at a conference. But all of this nonsense has long passed.

I think it's proof that Gio really means it when he says he's put 2022 behind him and moved on.

It was not media created drama - glad it’s in the past but give us a break. We can read what the Reynas said and did.

After you Gio, no after you Folarin, no after you Christian...

Selfishness can be an asset, even in team sports.

AFTER the World Cup, Mama and Papa "Soprano" Reyna created drama, yes. But DURING the World Cup with regards to the player himself and his relationship with the other players, there was no tension, there was no drama. The media created that part.
