And he will watch tape. And when he does, he’s going to see that Reyna is one of our most talented guys. And not by a little, but a good margin. Our team, especially on the margins, has quite a few guys who work hard, can’t impose themselves on the game. Reyna, on the other hand, due to his talent, can change the game through a moment of brilliance. We don’t have many of those guys.
I’m excited to see what Reyna can do under Pochettino, it’s such a great opportunity if he could only stay healthy. I really hope we don’t get cheated out of his talent but I worry with so many recurrences. It’s inevitable that injuries are going to destroy some promising career I hope it’s not this one.
"stop the momentum......negative pass....." Of course. He is tasked with a difficult role and he's about as "young" as they get if you take into consideration lack of reps at high level due to injuries. You can see not playing as a reason to sit or a reason to play more. Context is needed when dealing with Gio. Personally, I'd give him special treatment if I were manager of the USMNT, as long as I could keep everybody aboard with it. Messi won his first World Cup at an age where most footballers have retired and made it look like a walk in the park. Having his teammates, coach and fans all behind him really helped.
Were the fans behind Messi when he was dropped to the bench and loaned out to a lowly English relegation battler? Oh that never happened. I'm fully behind Gio. I'm just not convinced he's the player people thought he was going to be 4 years ago when he was setting up Haaland. He's shown his talent in patches at NT level but not consistently. I very much doubt his career or self-esteem will be influenced by what I post on BigSoccer and it would be ironic if people who have been on the former coach's back for last 6 years suggest that I support the team unconditionally. If he wins a starting place under Poch I'll be delighted.
He has had too many on and off again injuries. He had as many in one year as Bellingham has had since 2020. And we are back to injuries again.
The less he plays, the greater his prestige grows. If he continues not-playing, by 2026 he's going to be an indisputable starter.
Borussia Dortmund manager Nuri Şahin on Gio Reyna and his latest groin injury:"He came straight back [from the #USMNT] and I found him extremely sad. Unfortunately, it will take a few weeks. And then I hope that he can continue on this good path afterwards."— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) September 11, 2024
He absolutely has those sturdy Claudio Reyna leg muscles, tendons, and ligaments. That trait has obviously been passed down.

I mean …….. imagine if we had to suffer through a skilled version. Of JOBs kid. The torment it would have caused……we would have gotten two dozen nat appearances total but they would have been amazing. And he would have signed with the earthquakes as a last resort
