Yes, and when we stop talking, we don't ever talk again. Or even speak each others' names.

You obviously know way more about the game than I do. My point of reference would be Jude Bellingham today. Plenty of walking back after making runs and getting forward.

If Gio played two ways like Jude he’d be a superstar like him already. My point is just that it will take will power to make more runs forward knowing his mark might make him pay a price physically for doing so…and I hope he approaches it from that perspective. We need goals more than defensive discipline.

Which is why he's started basically every game for the US when he's healthy. Though few of those have been in games we might want more defense.

At club, or in a broader sense, he'll be a star if his defensive tactical sense / work rate were up there. Heck, he might already be there but he has been behind pretty damn good guys at his best position -- Reus, Brandt and MGW are all not chopped liver.

Too much drama. The pressure got to everybody. The pressure is understandable but we put one guy in charge to handle that.

Reyna had been a good place with club and country. There had been nothing wrong with his defending or workrate. Then his leg was broken. He has to work his way back into form and peak fitness. Takes time. That is all.

Could be. I kind of gloss over the leg injury but thinking back to early MLS I know Brandon Pollard retired very young after getting his leg broken (who's more soccer butchers - Canadians or Ukranians?) and became a professional beekeeper. Maybe that is a much tougher injury to get back to where you were than most of us know.

Immediately prior to the leg break Gio was largely a late game sub for BVB who people thought Terzic was only trusting when they needed to chase a result.

I didn’t get to see today. Looks like Reyna started but was subbed right after halftime.

I missed the game too but the local newspaper says:

Gio Reyna: Lacked sharpness on his second start for the club and was unable to build on last weekend’s display. Having said that, could well have had a penalty in the first half. Rating: 4.5/10

Calling that a potential penalty is generous.

Yeah, I lean towards that being generously given as a penalty, if it had been. But you do see it given often enough.

4.5? I’d say he reverted pretty fast.

Guessing they weighed their chances of the incoming fine against being so close to going down on points and think it's worth it. Not sure what good it does them if they are proven correct though as they won't get those points back. A replay? I doubt it. How the old you were right but it's too late in the season to do anything about it. Bet you feel better though right?

As ill advised as it was for Forest to put out that tweet/post, it is soooo delicious! Definitely giving pundits and the public lots to talk about.

No, they have idiots in their media department who'll probably get fired. Their Tweets are probably managed by a couple of teenagers.

At one point Notts County had a 14 year-old running social media. When he grew up and went to college he was replaced by a 16 year-old.

Would you as a coach risk a WC game with a player that wouldn’t take a fitness test? How could you possible trust that player and put everyone’s WC dreams at risk?

    no

but i also wouldn't tell one of our most talented players that he is only slated to play a very limited role in the WC...i would invest in him and build him up for the knockout matches
