In the second to last clip, he lofted the ball perfectly over the defense with his right foot. He doesn't use his right enough but I think he's one-footed. Will hopefully learn when to use each foot.
I am a veteran of many mangled hype trains and I’m just sayin that dude didn’t use his left foot in the whole clip.
Good call, noticed similar. Loves the outside right foot instead of his left.... but dude could use his butt cheeks for all I care.
He sprays a perfect pass out wide with his left at 1:34, too. Anyway, it's a fallacy that players have to be two footed to be great. You can only use one foot at a time on the ball. He doesn't need the same level of mastery or comfort on his left as on his right, as long as his left is adequate.
That’s weird I looked for his flaws. I did that when I watched de la Fuente too. Maybe that means I think they’re good prospects. Gio Reyna looks like he could be really good just with his tempo and vision at this age. I’m sure he’ll work on his left and maybe he already uses it a bit.
Wrong he used it 2 or 3 times, including right at the end. Agree that its ok to not want to jump the hype train.
Article on Gio's family and his older brother Jack: https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/12/12/claudio-reyna-family-jack-death-giovanni-dortmund I forget that his mom had a half dozen caps for the USWNT. At 14, Gio hired an agent, and he signed a long-term endorsement deal with Adidas after a bidding war with Nike. He also secured a Portuguese passport (through Claudio’s mother), which allowed him to sign officially with a European club when he recently turned 16—as opposed to having to wait until he turned 18 per FIFA rules if he only had a U.S. passport. In August, Goal.com reported that Gio was set to join the academy of Borussia Dortmund, the club of fellow American Christian Pulisic. (Claudio said he had no comment for now on Gio’s club future.) For the past couple months, Gio has been in Germany acclimatizing to the environment as he waited to turn 16.
So if he's been living in Germany for several months now, and turned 16 a full month ago, then I wonder what Dortmund is waiting for in order to make the announcement. Do youth transfers have to be officialized during the transfer windows as well?
Don't expect an official announcement soon. Thats not the BVB way. Dortmund want to protect them from too much hype. Same goes for Kamal Bafounta (2002). Big transfer for BVB. No official announcement yet.
I didn't know who that was so I looked him up, and just figured I'd point out that this guy has been with Dortmund since the summer and played in 13 games for their U17s. He also moved on a free.
Cool stuff about what a freak athlete he was since being a child. They make clear that he's better athletically than his dad was. A more athletic Claudio Reyna sounds like a damn good player.
Yeah, true. I guess I mean to ask at what point the press will be able to report that he's officially on their books.
So.... What is going on with gio? Really confused... Asn artcle couple days ago has him listed as unaffiliated fir the u17 call up.
Sounds like '02 #usynt Gio Reyna close to joining Dortmund U17s https://t.co/okqZIaHeLx— Joey (@USAprospects) January 21, 2019
