Chris is saying he has definitely been approached, but past that, nothing concrete, although he'll have more info tomorrow. And I'm a little concerned that, in the two pictures I've seen of him, he doesn't appear to have a neck!

    Later,

  4. He'd be the best playmaker in MLS, but it's doubtful he's interested in coming to the FIRE if he has a decent shot at a Premiership spot.

  5. No one complains that Ditka has no neck!

he says at this stage in his career, he should be at the highest level; he's looking for a premiership team, why would he come to chicago? But hey, if he does: Razov and Ralph up front with kinky as attacking midfield and dmb and mapp on the wings? ouch.

I'm pretty sure Williams would be expendable if we got Kinkladze.

cheap? yes. good? remains to be seen.

Trade value? There are only 6 other teams that haven't had him on their roster yet. 6 out of 10.

    I'm not disagreeing with you.

Who's in the market for an attacking midfield besides maybe New England, who's already had him.

We can always trade for draft picks. Lord knows we have experience with that.

Hmm I don't know, his # is 18. Do you think he would be willing to fight Zach for it?

Looks like a #10 to me. We don't have a number 10. That would be nice.

    Kinky!

This would be an amazing pickup for the Fire, but I'll believe it when I see it (and a massive loss for Derby). There's been no talk of this on the Derby list I subscribe to, and some there are very on top of things.

I wouldn't be surprised, though, if this was just talk to get some Premiership side to move on him. He'd look awfully good in red, though.

  23. Re: Kinky!

Bergin usually does not report things that are unconfirmed....He has confirmed that Chicago is making an offer, not that Derby is fabricating a story that Chicago is making an offer...that is to be read the confirmation has come from sources here..MLS\Chicago.

    Re: Re: Kinky!

I'm not doubting Chris Bergin - he's great. I'm also not doubting that the Fire has made some inquiries. I guess my doubt lies with Kinky's representative, who's going to try and get the best offer he can, and what better way to boost the price than to find an MLS club looking to improve.

Don't get me wrong - I hope it happens, and soon. I guess I'm just trying to not get my hopes up.

Hmmm. A guy who's bounced around from team to team and who threatened to sue his coach when he got benched versus a guy who's spent 11 years starting in the Bundesliga and a productive member of his national team. Hmmmm. Which one do I take?
