Bergin is reporting that chicago are attempting to sign former Man City attacker Gio Kinkladze. Must admit that I only know the player by name, and cannot recall whether he will really help chicago, and exactly how old he is.

Hmm, so most recently with Derby County of Division One, and was their player of the year. Just turning 30, seems like it would be a good move for the Fire, who have shown no signs of a letdown after losing Bob Bradley and Petr Novak.

i would be very afraid of a dmb/kinkladze-led fire midfield.

he is only 30 and is a very gifted player still in the prime of his career. gio was recently connected with a move to liverpool, won the player of the year award for a horrible derby side, and was trying to get back into the premiership by becoming a free agent so this move is a little mysterious (maybe he loves america... every other euro-soccer player seems to).

i suppose he is the replacement for nowak, but i think dc need the offensive help right now! :(

    Kinky!!

I hope the U.S. soccer press has as much fun with his name as their English counterparts did.

A lot of teams could use the offensive help. What DCU needs is a coach.

I agree that it's hard not to sigh a little. By all accounts, Steve Nicol has been waiting to use his last SI/discovery slot on exactly this kind of player.
