    I believe they only need 1 win in the last two games to guarantee promotion now, barring huge shifts in the goal differences.

    Yeah. Last place Spezia U19 next week followed by 4th place Palermo. Be nice to put it out of reach before the last game.

    Monza have Mantova and empoli. Both bottom half sides.

    Busio starts! Venezia (1st) visiting Spezia (20th, last, but starting the day with a fighting chance to avoid relegation).

    Edit: Spezia 0-2 Venezia @ 70', so Spezia are going down and Venezia are going up! Unless something goes wrong, but what could go wrong, with just 20' left in the match?

    Edit2: That was fast! Spezia 1-2 Venezia at 73' ...

    Edit3: Spezia 2-2 Venezia at 90' ... the final score.

    Did I mention that Spezia played the entire second half with just ten men?

    Edit4: But never fear, while Monza came from 2-0 down to draw level at 88', Mantova had the last laugh, winning 3-2.

    Venezia is now guaranteed promotion to Seria A, though Frosinone could still finish in first, Venezia now with just a one-point lead.

    ++++++++++++

    From Saturday's match, but too nice to waste ...

    Venezia already earned promotion, but today they won Serie B after a 2-0 win over Palermo in the season finale.

    Busio started and assisted on the second goal - going a full 90.

    I didn't watch this one, but Busio had his best season at Venezia. In the years past, he was a starter but a role player. This year he was a leader and arguably the team's most important player.

    He's unlikely to make the World Cup team for this summer, but he's 23. He's going to be in his prime next cycle.

    He's always been a Serie A player.

    I wonder how long Venezia can hold on to him. Him and Big Tess would have wrecked shop if they got to continue progressing together.

    Great photo. Almost as good as the one I'm in on the back patio smoking a cigar while sipping whiskey and my recently departed dog sitting nearby waiting on more chicharons.

    Hard to imagine another callup ISN'T in his near future. He's been consistently good to very good for, what, 3 years now?
