wow, Venezia coming back from the dead, perhaps. Of Course they've given up more points from winning/drawing positions than anyone in Serie A this year, I believe, so should be comfortably out of relegation. Will Cagliari feel like they've made it?
Well... they have one easier game against Cagliari and then finish with Juve. Only one point above Lecce and Empoli. The latter has the easiest schedule. It might come down to GD.... In which case Venezia would be in a decent position.
And he's half Italian. At least pulisic has learned the language. Gullit says it's the most beautiful language in the world
Busio hasn't impressed me much. I preferred tessman. Our best mf By our I mean team usa. Sorry adams fanboys
Catastrophic series of results today for Venezia unfortunately. They are almost certain to be officially relegated on match day 38.
Contract expires in a year, and I can’t imagine he wants to spend that in Serie B again. Time to move?
🚨 Udinese closely monitoring Gianluca Busio for potential summer transfer, according to Tutto Udinese.https://t.co/FO6g6ssoEq#VeneziaFC #Udinese #SerieA— TransferFeed (@transferfeedcom) June 12, 2025 Rumors
US based investment firm Guggenheim Partners is on the verge of a full Udinese take over after an initial investment in the Spring. Sargent has been linked and now Busio. It would not be surprising to see other Americans linked because of the US connection. Who knows if these rumors actually have legs…..
apropos of not-a-whole-lot but Udine is such a weird place to have a Serie A team. I've never really understood how they survive, but they generally seem to.
This upcoming season will be their 30th consecutive in Serie A, which is crazy for a city of under 100,000 people.
They've done well for themselves, but let's not ignore the fact that the Province of Udine has over 500,000 people. They're not minnows.
They're pretty small fish - got to be 30+ provinces with bigger population - many in less area. There's got to be easily 60 or more with great pop density. Udine's biggest metro area is what, 150 - 200k? The population is flatlined at best, probably shrinking a bit. I did regular business with a company based in Udine a number of years ago and even they couldn't believe they could sustain a top-flite team - although they were also very proud and happy about, but every time we talked "next season" they'd give a sly little "if we're still around..." Was always pretty funny.
