Busio came out in the 62nd minute as part of a triple sub, trailing 2-0. Venezia managed to even it up 2-2 ... and then gave up yet another late goal to blow the point. Busio's stat sheet looks good enough, with a couple of shots and 6/8 on duels. Some of these matches have to start breaking his way at some point, though.
Busio starts! again, after coming in off the bench in recent matches. Venezia (19th, in big trouble) visiting Atalanta (3rd).
Manage an impressive 0-0 tie. Still in 19th, but snatching a point against the bigs is the least they have to do at this rate. Now need a run of 3s.
Catching up on Busio, he's back on the bench, Venezia (19th) hosting Napoli (2nd). 0-0 at Halftime - let's hope Busio is primed to play the 2nd-half hero.
Another draw with a top team but still 5 points adrift. Not great that Busio hasn’t started during this string of quality results.
Busio starts against Lecce in the midfield. Relegation six-pointer - this is one of the teams they could catch to stay up. Venezia go ahead early second half on a brilliant own goal as Lecce's Gallo deflects a wide free kick perfectly over his own keeper.
Great header off a corner kick makes it 1-1 - Baschirotto with the goal after being relatively unmarked. Busio was guarding the striker Krstovic on the play.

Venezia finally take the full three points, 1-0 over Monza. Busio came off at 85'. Relegation still seems much more likely than not, but a little less likely after today's victory. Venezia still need to climb past two teams, with only Lecce, Empoli and Parma within reach. Six matches remain - next weekend: @ Empoli
It still looks bleak for Venezia and Busio, but they’re still alive. A win over Empoli will boost them up close to 50/50. Even a tie will keep hope alive. Their remaining schedule isn’t impossible. This is why pro/rel is exciting. Venezia’s tiny, but atmospheric, stadium was packed with drama today. The game wasn’t pretty, but the tension was huge. Monza is going down, but they fought hard for their pride.
Busio starts! Venezia visiting Empoli, both teams desperate for a victory. My schematic shows Venezia in their standard 3-5-2, but with Busio as the right forward of the two-man front line. Can this be correct? He’s always (to my knowledge) been part of Venezia’s midfield jumble. Edit: Still 0-0 at HT
In a match reflective of Venezia’s season, Venezia first fell behind, then drew level 1-1, Busio scored!!! the ‘game-winner’ at 85’, only to have Empoli draw level a couple of minutes later. Final score: 2-2, both teams remaining in the relegation zone, 25 points each, five matches left to play. Busio played the full match.

Victory is ours! Busio goes the full distance in a hard-fought 2-1 win, earning a late yellow card for his troubles. Venezia is now in 17th, one point ahead of Lecce and Empoli. Two matches remain: Sun 5/18 @ Cagliari (T-14th) Sun 5/25 v Juventus (T-4th) Lecce play v Torino (T-11th) and @ Lazio (T-4th) Empoli play @ Monza (20th) and v Hellas Verona (T-14th) Advantage in comparative schedules: Empoli
Wow Venezia were looking cooked earlier in the season. Impressed they've even made it this competitive. I hope they pull it off. 1 point and a better GD can make all the difference.
As I mentioned on the Gameday thread, GD doesn't matter (unfortunately for Venezia). Ties go to a two-legged playoff.
