I'm not saying he's incompetent, but there are better midfield options for a relegation-threatened team looking for defensive solidity in an away match against last season's champion.

On Venzia's roster? Busio seems to have pretty much solidified himself as their best midfielder (at least) this season.

In fact, I think said champion is reportedly tracking Busio.

I don't care that he didn't start today -- I'm just talking about his overall abilities as a player.

Busio starts! in the very middle of a 3-5-2, Venezia (T-19th) hosting Parma (T-16th, one point ahead). Seven teams are bunched at the bottom, with 8, 9, or 10 points, so this match is an important one to win.

Does anyone know what is up with the red marks under the Venezia player's left eyes?

edit: looks like some of the Lecce players have them as well. Haven't seen a closeup of Busio's face, so unclear if he has one as well

All Serie A players will be donning a red stripe dashed on their cheeks during the 13th round of fixtures this weekend to raise awareness for the league’s Un Rosso alla Violenza (‘A red to violence’) campaign.

The campaign is aimed at raising awareness surrounding physical and psychological abuse towards women in Italy.

Busio went 90' in a 0-1 loss. The stat sheet perfectly summarizes Venezia's season:

Busio could've had an assist and/or a goal if he OR his teammates were capable of finishing a single attacking move...

He let his team down. Had a slick 1-2 but botched a great chance by letting the ball bounce instead of taking it out the air. Then his touch really let him down in dangerous spots late.

After a hot start to the season, he's really cooled off, not dissimilar from last Serie A stint. And Venezia are suffering at the bottom of the table. This was a crushing L. Not looking good ATM.

to be fair, his team also let him down, as I can recall at least one move where Busio played a teammate in on goal and they totally botched it. Nothing is clicking for Venezia, and they're a real safe bet for relegation unless someone at the club can start scoring goals...

I think that's harsh. That would have been a tough finish off of that scoop. He was far from perfect, but he did a lot to create for his teammates, too.

Ouch. Was the kind of game against a team that was in the relegation zone that they really need to win if they are to stay in Seria A next season.

He needs to leave if they drop again. Tessmann was smart to leave but picked a team that may drop for financial impropriety reasons. Picking a team in Europe is sort of like buying a ticket to a lottery. Balancing how much time you'd get, how much you value winning and how badly do you dislike going down a level is a total crapshoot unless you're a top player.

Nah. More like a dating app. It’s hard to pick a winner in a cesspool of losers. With a little luck you can find that hidden jewel and the rest is history. I did but getting there was a crazy trip in that cesspool of losers. You’re just hoping that cesspool doesn’t devalue your worth. For Busio’s sake, I hope he can round back into form. If he does….. a suitor will see and determine he’s better than a bottom feeder club.
