Well Benevento ran away with Serie B and Crotone finished comfortably in 2nd while Spezia won the playoff and only Spezia stayed up. But being in Serie A can chance things
https://www.espn.com/soccer/sportin...-chart-his-own-path-amid-interest-from-europe Revealing article that gives the behind the scenes to Busio's career development to this point. Lots of good bits in there...sounds like everything is coming along nicely.....
Don’t know how credible it is but it’s being floated around that KRC Genk is also interested. They are supposedly the “unnamed” Belgian club that was reported a week or two ago.
This site seems to have had accurate information about Tessmann, so here's what they're saying about Busio: https://www.trivenetogoal.it/2021/0...-per-gianluca-busio-gli-aggiornamenti/130709/ There could be two Americans in force for Venezia next season. After Tanner Tessmann, already in San Vito di Cadore and for whom only an official announcement is remaining, there was a strong acceleration for the definitive arrival of midfielder Gianluca Busio, born in 2002, who plays in MLS with Sporting Kansas City. Unlike Tessmann, Busio has an Italian passport and would be registered as an EU member. The parties have come very close and, although not yet reached, the agreement is considered probable.
I'm not sure if he's good enough to play in Serie A, right now. Maybe another season, in a lower league, will be good for him.
That’s a big set back for Spezia. That could put them in a tough sport and they could be relegation candidates as a result. That also has to hit Robert Platek pretty hard considering the violations happened before his ownership.
Venezia are in advanced talks to sign 19een midfielder Gianluca Busio from Sporting Kansas City. Deal at final stages for Serie A side after Sassuolo approach weeks ago. @DiMarzio 🇺🇸 #MLS #Venezia— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 16, 2021 Its still wild to me to see MLS players being reported by the biggest soccer "insiders"
Here's the more detailed report from DiMarzio: https://gianlucadimarzio.com/it/venezia-gianluca-busio-calciomercato-news-16-luglio-2021 It says they're paying 4 million euros for him, and that he's expected to be in Italy next week for the medical and to sign a contract. I assume that means he'll be withdrawing from the Gold Cup roster.
Very likely, but the US plays Canada on Sunday, then not again until the following weekend, so he could sign and return ... though ... one would hope he would move forward with settling in at Veneizia, Tessmann-style.
Don't worry, if you could make mincemeat of Tyler Adams, you'll have these two sliced and diced in no time.
No shit! It is wild. And when it comes from Romano….. it’s the gospel. It’s happening. The dude rarely gets anything wrong. He must pay his sources very well.
They're similar players; both ball-playing 6/8's. Tessmann is a bigger version, and Busio plays faster. I think they'd block the other sometimes, and when on the field detract from each other. So I'm definitely hoping this deal doesn't go thru and this is posturing to drive up a price. The reported #'s are a disappointment. Maybe SKC are looking for a heavy back end, but that'll dissuade his future movement. Would much prefer Sassuolo as a landing spot, if these are the options.
I could also see him doing the medical and paperwork in the US, and waiting to join and have the announcement until after the gold cup. It seems like that’s what’s happened with Sancho.
Good thinking. No reason for unnecessary travel. I still think the pre-signing period is fraught with peril, as injuries/complications do happen.
SKC is denying the report (which they would do whether it was true or not since it hasn't been officially announced yet). Sporting KC does not have a transfer agreement in place for Gianluca Busio, nor the final stages of a deal or anything of that sort. That's straight from Peter Vermes. SKC continues to have dialogue with multiple clubs, Venezia among them.— Sam McDowell (@SamMcDowell11) July 16, 2021
I do remember Romano and Di Marzio jumped the gun a bit in reporting on Bryan Reynolds to Juventus/Benevento this winter, and just like now I remember the club (and eventually several US Soccer insiders) denying that anything was finalized. I'm still waiting to see any comment one way or another from the US-based reporters who cover this stuff.
For what it’s worth, I’ve heard the same. Nothing done just yet with Venezia and Sporting KC for Gianluca Busio. As I reported last week, Venezia moved forward and were getting closer. Talks ongoing and continuing.Take Sam’s word for it cus he spoke with Vermes on-record. https://t.co/UmvUQx9K3K— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) July 16, 2021
Done deal and total agreement reached, confirmed. Gianluca Busio leaves Sporting Kansas City to join Serie A side Venezia on permanent deal. 🇺🇸 #MLS #VeneziaPersonal terms also agreed. Sporting KC will receive €4m guaranteed + add ons. Busio will be in Italy soon.— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 17, 2021
