According to Lyngsat, RTPi was only on 61.5W but not mirrored on 148W on the Echostar birds. So on Dish Network, west coast locals are on 148W, while RTPi is only on 61.5W. If you are on the west coast and want locals + RTPi, does it mean you have to point dishes to 4 satellites? 110, 119 - for regular Dish programming 148 - locals 61.5 - RTPi
I live on the West coast and Have their regular programming, locals, and RTP. I have two dishes. Just make sure you get the Dish 500. I believe they said that Local programming is at 110. I gave one dish catchin 119, and 110 and the other for RTP at 61.5. The 500 lets you get locals and programming with one dish. You will need the second dish for RTP.
I suspect you are missing out a whole bunch of Bay Area locals. You probably only get CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox with the Dish 500. The San Fran/San Jose networks are on 119W. Check out this page: http://www.lyngsat.com/dig/dish148_sid.shtml and all the channles between 8228 and 8240. All are UHF locals that you are eligible to receive, including Univision, Telemundo, Telefutura and Azteca. I don't understand why Dish Network does not mirror RTPi on 148W. That's a very peculiar arrangement. Do they think only east coasters subscribe to Portugese programming?
I actually get ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, WB, UPN, KICU, Telemundo. It's not that bad. I can't remember missing anything I have ever wanted to watch.
With the Dish Network for $40 dollars you can get a full package of MLS Soccer games. My favorite channel is on the Dish 500 www.olntv.com ch 151
