I have a feeling he would be born the US. Tim and his wife were married in Vegas back in 2010. Something tells me they don't mind it here.
I was initially thinking due to Dempsey's Irish heritage, but it looks like it was his paternal grandparents who were Irish immigrants, so now I don't think the kids can play for Ireland. If Dempsey's parent(s) were Irish, then his kids would've been eligible for Ireland. It is certainly true that Dempsey was playing in England when his first son was born. Whether his son was born in England is another question, but you bring up a good point.
Brad Guzan's son was born last year in England when he was with Aston Villa, in case England is potentially looking to poach a goalkeeper 20+ years from now. It looks like Brad's wife might be English as well. (I just thought of this when mike4066 mentioned the possibility of Dempsey's sons being eligible for England.)
It may be possible for his children to be Irish citizen, but it would take some legwork and probably would have required Clint to register as an Irish citizen before their births. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/e...ish_citizenship_through_birth_or_descent.html British citizenship is a bit more complicated and would require that the parents are "settled" in the UK: "Settled" status usually means the parent is resident in the UK and has the right of abode, or holds Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), or is the citizen of an EU/EEA country and has permanent residence, or otherwise unrestricted by immigration laws to remain in the UK.[4] Irish citizens in the UK are deemed settled for this purpose. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_nationality_law It sounds like you have to have a more definite plan to stay rather than simply be there on a work permit, but these things are rather complicated and subject to a lot of interpretation and administrative rules.
Folks that have lives may not be paying attention to the FC Dallas youth teams. Jesus Ferreira, son of former MLS MVP David Ferreira, is tearing up the development academy. 10 goals in the last 3 games at the GenAd Cup. He wasn't born in the US, but has expressed an interest in representing the USMNT. We haven't gotten a citizenship timeline for him recently, but its apparently "close."
Yeah, and I see that his father arrived at Dallas in 2009, which would have made Jesus 8 at the time.
Javier Morales' son was born in the US while at RSL: Dedicated to the RSL fans , to my teammates, my friends and to the people of Utah. You will always be in my heart. Javi Morales #11 pic.twitter.com/8lgutRAx5z— Javier Morales (@javi_mo11) November 3, 2016
Big news on the dual-national front last night while you were sleeping. Jesus is the son of former MLS MVP David Ferreira. He's one of the best players in the Development Academy. '00 Jesus Ferreira joins up with US program. Ramiro Funes Mori of Argentina/Everton raising his son right! Folks will remember that Ramiro (and his brother Rogelio) spent time at the FCD academy. He's married to Mauro Diaz' sister. I don't know if this little guy is US-eligible, but we'll do detective work when the time comes....................... 👶🏽😍⚽️ pic.twitter.com/2hrqcRZqJd— Ramiro Funes Mori (@funesmoriofi25) November 17, 2016
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/cristiano-...-expecting-twins-via-surrogate-report-1611097 So would this make Ronaldo's twin boys American as well? He could have 3 US eligible sons?
Former English pro player and long-time coach Paul Buckle and his wife Rebecca Lowe had a son in 2016, born in the US. The Men in Blazers crew are already putting in a plug for his NT loyalty. https://meninblazers.com/2016/02/16/threeqs-rebeccalowe/
For those not paying attention to the US U17s, Tim Weah is currently part of the CONCACAF Championships squad. He's the son of former FIFA World Player of the Year, George Weah. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...ngs-to-know-about-tim-weah-son-of-george-weah
If he is even half as good as his Dad we have ourselves a fantastic player for the future. One can only hope.
There are so many good attacking talents in that U17 team (Sargent, Carleton, Akinola, etc.) that Weah seems to get lost in the shuffle. He's never really "stood out" to me. But these are youngsters, and he has the potential to blossom. We've seen highlights of some nice performances for PSG youth, although I've never seen him play a 90 minute game for them.
I prefer him to Akinola quite easily. Better feet, better finisher. He's been passed by Sargent, and isn't even close to Carleton's level. He looked really good when I watched him play for PSG. I don't know why he doesn't perform for the USA.
Good to see Ronaldo is keeping his oldest son properly trained and in the limelight: https://www.instagram.com/p/BTv5MnzlVPd/?taken-by=cristiano
Juan Carlos Osorio, a former Colombian pro and head coach of Mexico, lived in the US for a long time and has US-born sons: Having said that, I would consider coming back to MLS not just for the reason that I mentioned, but because my two boys were born in Queens, N.Y. If they decided to come to university or play sports here, I would like to be with them. http://www.ajc.com/sports/pro-sport...ains-his-comments-mls/ALXerWapHbGvopOrNMBRcL/
