That's what you hear in quotes from the players, that they can go out to dinner here and have no one recognize them all night. Must be a huge attraction to guys who can't go anywhere without guards and minders in Europe.
Yet Euros and South Americans are always bashing on Americans as dumb and ignorant rednecks who don't get "football." They still want to live here, though. The irony... If soccer gets more popular here, that won't be the case.
Not necessarily true. MLB, NHL, NFL and NBA players don't get the same kind of scrutiny that soccer players overseas do. True they might be more recognizable but hardly anyone will come up to them and say they need to play better or wait for him outside of a Starbucks to say he sucks and they want their season ticket money back. We just don't have that culture here and probably never will.
I don't agree. Maybe thats true in most parts of the country, but in some cities with really passionate fans and ruthless media (Philly, New York, Chicago, LA), it can get really bad at times. You aren't going to be under the same scrutiny in Miami or Orlando, but the real big sports markets demand a lot of their athletes. In Canada, the scrutiny on their NHL teams (especially Toronto) is absolutely absurd. Its like Real Madrid or Barcelona type scrutiny.

I like the idea that kids of legends may play for us one day; George Weah's kid first, now possibly the likes of Henry and Ronaldo kids. I wouldn't want that to be the only place we pool players from, but it really seems like a neat aspect that will be added to the USMNT as MLS grows.
If we can't get 'em to root for the men's side, maybe the women can capture their imagination... That's a Beckham kid wearing a USWNT #10, hanging out with Hope Solo.
Alessandro Nesta, who is set to Miami FC in the NASL, mentioned he has a US born daughter and is going to live in the US permanently: He left Italy in 2012 and played for the Montreal Impact of the MLS until he retired in 2013. He has owned a home in Miami for 10 years, lived here part-time for seven years, and three years ago, when he signed with MLS, he and his family made Miami their permanent home. He lives here with his wife, Gabriela, and three children — Sofia, 8; Tommaso, 7; and Angelica, 1, “my one American child, born in Miami Beach,” he said. http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mls/article32878395.html#storylink=cpy

There seems to be be something missing from this story or is this one of these cases where people "vacation" in the USA during the due date so their child can have US citizenship?
It's a child through a surrogate. He and his wife are traveling because there are requirements that both mother and father need to be there.
Jesus Ferreira (David Ferreira's son) is scoring goals for fun in the development academy. After a hat-trick last weekend for the FCD U16s, he kept on scoring this weekend. FCD U-16s lead Texans 3-0 late in the match. Not cap-tied yet, though. FCD after 7 games at this level is undefeated with a goal difference of +20. Beating opponents by three goals a game so far. This one against the Texans ended up 4-0. Ferreira is a big reason for that.]
Dual-national watch.................!!! Tri-national? [UK, Canada, US?] Surprise! My plans have changed for this summer. @Ddwyer14 and I are so excited to announce... pic.twitter.com/99knKtCvTO— Sydney Leroux (@sydneyleroux) January 26, 2016
I don't usually post in this thread, but Landon Donovan was my favorite player, and I'm really happy that he seems to be doing well after retirement. His wife recently gave birth to a son. 692422546193420288 is not a valid tweet id
That was my thought too...unless the kid was born in Canada, LD can't pass on his Canadian citizenship. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/rules_2009.asp
My bad, then. I thought this was just a thread to post about players who've had babies who might play for the USMNT in like 20-25 years.
Primarily, I was jokingly hoping to catch the ones that wouldn't be immediately obvious... like Ronaldo's son or Henry's son. But all NT-eligible babies are free to make their presence known in this thread.
