Pm me - friends and family are going tonight and could give you a lift back to OR tambo - you must just get to the game. I am presuming you are on your own because we can squash one in.

I was thinking what do the south africans think about the germans and dutch who were part of bringing apartheid to the country are now possible to play for the world cup in SA.

Maybe there is not any thoughts on it, but was interesting to think of historically.

Actually the English had a hand in it too, the Germans are quite innocent in the whole thing.

No I do not think anyone even remotely thinks of Germany, The Netherlands or England in terms of their history or any connection to our history. This is a sporting event and bears no relationship to any political interaction. SA'ns (and I am generalising here) do not transfer historical/political grudges to the sporting field - we were in sporting isolation for too long to have that luxury.

Does anybody have any decent suggestions on how to exchange Rand back into Sterling or Dollars?

Obviously its possible to go down to the bureau de change and just hand it over, but I've ended up with quite a stack after all my friends ended up paying me for their tickets in rand. That, and a rather eventful night in the casino.

Is there an informal place to trade rand at xe rates with other buyers or perhaps somebody on here is looking to buy rand???

The FOREX will only exchange the amount of Rand that you claimed coming into the country, or an additional amount if you can prove that you withdrew money from an ATM and kept the receipts

Friends of mine had similar situations (alot of Rand without documentation) and they bought Krugerrands with the excess Rand.
