The redcoats are coming, the redcoats are coming! Back to the Florida cup, against Orlando City & Chelsea. https://www.arsenal.com/florida-cup-series-arsenal-chelsea-orlando-city-pre-season-united-states Hopefully some of us from this board, especially those down that way, can make it out to see & support the lads!
I’m looking into it. Won’t be the same as going to Emirates, but my son is also a Gooner, so this will be an easier way to watch the team with him. My son and I are also going to Circuit of Americas in October. Any other Gooners going to Austin for that F1 race?
I got an email this morning saying that tickets for the Chelsea match 7/23 are available now. Also there was this blurb on Arsenal.com, which has a link to the "FC Series" organizer... https://www.arsenal.com/florida-cup-series-arsenal-chelsea-orlando-city-pre-season-united-states I don't think I'm gonna be able to make it to this, but if something changes I'll have to make a last minute scramble for tix.
I want nothing to do with anything down in Florida as long as Ron DeSantis (R - FL) is governor of that state, the same also goes with Texas, especially with some of the extreme far-right ass-backwards legislations they have signed into law down in those two states....... VOTE BLUE in '22!!! #DeSantisOut #Democrat #VoteBlue #ProChoice #AbbottOut #Beto2022 #BetoForGovernor #LiberateTexas #LiberateFlorida
Hmm… now that’s a bit more enticing for me. Did this just get announced? Everton are an “interesting” foe, given what may happen on 5/22.
Pretty cool, two East Coast options this year. Arsenal Wenger couldn't care less about growing the brand in the USA, but always had a soft spot for Henry, which brought the Gunners to New York back in 2014. Was a great weekend and felt like it was an Arsenal convention in Manhattan. I met fans from all over the world that weekend (none of you lot, though ). Great memories.
The Gunners? Against the Toffees? In Baltimore? @arseblog beat me to it... https://t.co/OfQ0lonekM— Isiah Whitlock Jr. (@IsiahWhitlockJr) May 11, 2022 Sheeeeeeettttt!
Didn't know (or remember) this last bit Arseblog mentions ... "No doubt Eddie Nketiah will be excited about the prospect of playing in his hometown." I'm not familiar with this stadium (don't follow gridiron) but from that picture it looks like an even flatter bowl than the Grove. So there's no way of being close to the pitch and elevated at the same time I guess?
Yeah that was in my other home stadium (RBA) and I took my youngish kids to that match. So I didn't get involved in any gooner meetups. But if I go to B'more I'd be up for that. Maybe some folks on this board from the B'more/DC area would be interested in "instigating" that?
By the winky, I guess you're joking. But just in case, he's referring to the fact that Eddie bears a decent resemblance to Marlo.
Actually I didn't really know what Arseblog was referring to, so thanks. I don't get HBO, haven't seen the Wire, didn't know about Marlo. But I've just pulled him up on google and I can see a little resemblance but not exactly a dead ringer.
Yeah, heard it was good. But I had to draw the line at TV/streaming costs somewhere and HBO has been consistently on the wrong side of the line. Maybe something will change in my streaming future that makes it more available. Presumably it's not going anywhere nor getting any less good so... In the meantime we're into Season 2 of Mrs. Maisal and a few other things. But we digress... this is training trip thread after all!
Anyone else considering this match @B'more 7/16? I know @maskito said something about it, which would be an impressive schlep from MPLS. I suppose the ATL based crew might opt for Orlando being closer. But what about the MidAtlantic folks? It be nice to meetup in person, before/after the match.
I'm considering a Bawlmur trip (mmmm G&M crab cakes less than 10 minutes away from the BWI rental car lot) but we've yet to plan our annual "somewhere in the Caribbean beach/dive trip" so I'll have to see if that conflicts.
My attendance is still up in the air. We're moving to Nashville this summer, which is putting plans like this on the back-burner. I'd love to meet up with fellow US Gooners, but I'm getting doubts whether that will be this summer. FL is more a more likely destination if I can get to a US match this offseason since my new role takes me there for work on a regular basis.
Need to make a decision on whether to go see Everton match at B’more. Anyone from NYC metro area interested in car pooling?
