I can only laugh, and let them have it! Because we all know who the REAL Champions are!

The Caps can't beat their way out of a paper bag or a first round playoff opponent. What a load of crap. But as someone pointed out, they do have some time on their hands....

    F'k the poll..
    F'k the capitals..
    F'k the wizards...

United are the TRUE champions of DC.....

    Dougg

PS: I was going to say f'k the Redskins, but I am a Redskins fan sadly... but that's not why I didn't say f'k them.. They finally benched Brunell, so maybe, just maybe they'll start winning....

Interestingly enough (at least for me) is that the name of their poll (in the HTML code) is "united_111504". Me thinks there might have been some bias by the person that set it up :)

Technically speaking (before yesterday) aren't United and the Freedom the LAST teams to bring trophies back to DC?

    Yep.

We can't forget those Mystics Attendance Championships and the Redskins 1999 NFC East Division title which was prominently displayed all over Fed Ex Field when I saw Springsteen in September 2003.

The only stars the Caps have are on their eagle. Granted, we have one on ours, but goddammit, it means something.

Jeez - who knows if the Caps will even be in existence. Teddy said they lose less money when they don't play. With lockouts for a few more years they'll be rich! :)

I voted for the Mystics. Now that Chamique has her depression treated, there's no stopping that team, baby!

Yeah, if the Founders Cup itself hasn't been hocked to pay off the debts ...

But seriously, it's amazing how many "gender doubles" have been pulled off recently. Connecticut currently holds men's and women's basketball titles. San Jose held the MLS Cup and Founders cup at the same time in 2001. United and the Freedom LLC currently hold these same cups. Princeton lacrosse have pulled off gender doubles twice. For a few months, the Detroit Shock and Detroit Pistons held the WNBA and NBA titles. And if a certain New York baseball team hadn't pulled off an choke for the ages, the Yankees and the New York/New Jersey Juggernaut (partially owned by the Yankees) would be holding MLB and WPF titles.

Duelling scripts . . .both of which appear to still be running. Wonder how long before the Post people just shut the damned thing down.

The poll's obviously getting stuffed by United and Caps fans / computer hackers.

No way any demographic could yield the current 16,888 votes for United, 10,285 for the Caps, 44 votes for the Redskins, 39 for the Expos, 29 for the Mystics and 8 for the Wizards.

But, hey! I voted for United anyway!

29 votes for the Mystics? Well that settles it - someone really is stuffing the box.

They're a hockey team that's due to start play sometime around the year 2009.

No need to hate on the Caps. We should love all DC teams, well, except for the Boulez, until Pollin sells those dogs. The Caps have the best farm system in Hockey, if they don't fold they should be dynamite within 3-4 years (just think of the Avalanche their last two years as Nordiques in Quebec, that's how good the Caps farm system is, as good as their's or close to it, post-Lindros trade), no reason to hate on the beloved chokers. Let's just enjoy the one true champion we've had in DC over nearly the past fifteen years, and not look daggers upon the rest of the dogs that represent DC for the time being. The only thing better than one DC Champion, is two etc :D
