Jersson Rodriguez... his name is jersson gonzalez and yes i think it is the first time a colored player plays for river. i know there have been several players that were called "el negro" but i dont think they were of african decent.
there was a few peruvians that played for river back in the day im not sure but chances are one of them was black
thanks...I know Boca had a Black player last year but I wasnt sure about River. Do Black players get the racial abuse Black Europeans get when they play in Italy and Slovakia, etc.
ofcourse, probably not as much as before but it still happens. argentines usually dont have to face that problem but many colombians, peruvians etc that are from african decent do come across racist/angry fans. i remember Jairo Castillo played for velez and he was attacked by some fan and i think the fan told him how he felt about him. sux but it happens.
i dont know a bout river but boca has had 3 peruvian players of dark skin all have been crowd favorites
Boca always has all kinds of races. Blacks, Indian, Japanese, Spanish, White, etc. River are a bunch of racist fooks who only play with white, Red or blonde headed kids. The fact that anyone would even bring up the subject about a colored player being on RIver shows you just how many times River has had players other than white. I think the closes they came to a non white player was Ortega, but I think he was more halfling than human.
haha, you need to read up on your Argentine futbol history a bit there pally. We had a negro before boca ever did, back in the 70's there was some peruano, can't remeber names now. When I get home I'll look it up for you in my books if you like. As for the racism, it's hard to say. I find it funny that in Europe they are denouncing racism from crowds, like it happened in Slovakia. Sorry, but people should be allowed to think and say whatever they want, however stupid and ignorant that may be. One thing is racist remarks, another is descrimination. In argentina you will hear racist remarks always. But I have yet to hear of anyone being descriminated against because they are black. Remember, although blacks are not as numerous down there, you do see Brazilians, Colombians and Uruguayans travelling there, and they are all greeted with open arms. So yeah, players get abused for their color. But it's more about getting at the player and insulting him, the same way white players get abused for other reasons. It's hardly an issue of descrimination. An example would be Eduardo Bennet, a crowd favorite at Argentinos Juniors, black from central america. He got loads of abuse but he just laughed it all off because he say the same type of people cheering for him on the other side of the stadium. Talk about River being racist all you want, but one of the funniest "racist" moments I've ever witnessed in Argentina involved boca player Tchami, who was from Cameroon. He came on during a game as a sub in the second half, I was listening to and the boca radio announcer put on background music of drums and other typical "african" music (of some sort), and then he started whispering to Tchami "C'mon Tchami...inspire yourself...think of your girlfriend back in the jungle...." all while this ridiculous music is being played in the background. Funny stuff.
Jersson Rodriguez... It must of been in Radio Mitre Super Ochenta Deportivo I heard that the Bayen Munich Kuffour jersey was a River plate fans favorite after the Intercontinental Cup victory over Bosta Jrs...
I think they actually showed that game tape delayed on Telemundo back when Fernando Gamboa was part of their backline. Didn't Alphonse come on like 5 or 10 minutes before the final whistle. Chances of game not being it are slim since he rarely made an apperance anyways.
c'mon Gabriel! I even remember you being part of the satiritical comments towards xeneizes' supporters! you said (and I can perform a research for you) that Boca is supported by bolivians and paraguas! you can hardly argue that's not discrimination!
Calling you names is just being abusive. If refuse you service in my store, don't let you marry my daughter, or make you sit in the back of the bus, that's discrimination. el mofles: I don't know if it was that game or not, Tchami did get into more than a handful of matches though, as I remember he played because Caniggia was injured. VS: The jerkoff doing the game on the radio was Alejandro Fantino, Radio Mitre. He's the "voice" of bosta. And you're right about the Bayern Munich jerseys!
I never saw or heard this but if its what you just said theres nothing racist about this. The guy IS from the jungle, I mean didnt you say he was from Africa? Its no different when they play salsa music as Alfonso Soriano is about to bat up and the announcer talks about his family back in the slums of the dominican Republic.
It still doesn't mean there isnt a jungle. So if they call an Argie a "gaucho"... WHAT ALL ARGIES ARE COWBOYS now? How is this for an example? WHat if the guy was from Ohio playing in NY and someone puts on some bluegrass as he steps in and says "think about your girl back in the farm"...what theres no CITIES in OHIO? Puh-lease.... My point is its not a RACE thing its a nationality thing. Its about the region you come from not the race that you are.
No the thing is you said "The guy IS from the jungle" which is just a dumb ass statment. I don't think calling Argies Gachos or Colombians Cafeteros is the same thing.
Tell me what the difference is?Really? Maybe because when YOU think about people being from the jungle you think of it as being a put down. I really dont care if they do its just another part of the world to me. No different than being from Beverly Hills or New York.
As i said the reason it was a dumb ass statment is because you said he was from the jungle. You don't know if he is or isn't. There are a lot of jungles in Colombia but you wouldn't say Colombians are from the jungle would you?
Dumb ass statement because you are insinuating that all of Africa is a jungle. About the guy on the farm you are not insinuating that all of Ohio is a farm are you.
