    Couple of pointers

At least we did not concede
    Raum/wirtz should take corners
    Kimmich should play RB
We need to find the perfekt DM combo
Putting hope on Musiala come back
Wirtz has to get through his bad patch
Hopefully kelindienst will come back to offer more options upfront

regarding the DM combo - problem is if we do not get some one like Kroos who can control midfield nagelmanns might bring Kimmich back so we have to explore Gross, Stiller , Bischoff hopefully one of them can provide a better option then Goretska ( who should be used as an impact sub)

Man of the match for me is Pavlovic. He becomes true 6 that Germany needs. His tackling, positioning and defensive skills is on another level, read the game really well. No wonder he links to many big teams now.

Most of the line ups for last nights game on the media channels show a 4-1-4-1 line up , meaning Pavlovic was sole 6 DM .

I guess against lower rated teams its an interpretation (4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1 Similar) , but we need a a proper player next to Pavlovic, happy with him to do the defenive work but we need some one who can dicated the speed and do the killer passes

It's interesting how much international football is levelling out.

One factor that is pretty clear is that the 'big players' come to these games under a 2-3 game a week load and are redlined already. This mattered less 20 years ago when club football had lower intensity and many international games were played at a much lower competitive level. But now the lesser teams go hard out, and you have to play at max to win.

I think this is what Nagelsmann was getting at when he said he'd only pick players who wanted to be there. But from the players point of view, they can't necessarily give 100% in these games. I feel Havertz is already a bad lesson where he had a massive workload at Arsenal with little rotation, didn't get a rest in summer 2024, then was flogged again by arsenal until we broke him.

SO germany Had two shots on target last night
    • Woltemade Goal
    • Gnabry 70th minute shot
and one big chance missed by Adeyemi

    Probably not good enough

The game is reminiscent of the game against Italy- up 4-0 in the first half and total collapse in the second half. If NI had good attackers, it would have been another embarrassment.

I'm very much over Goretzka. Give me Stiller or Bischof or someone with faster decision-making on the ball.

Completely agree. Everyone fit, I want to see the following midfield and attack.

    -----------------Pavlovic----Stiller------------------

    ------Musiala---------Havertz-----wirtz-------

    ----------------------Woltemade--------------

Brown is perhaps the first male German-born footballer with an American father who has chosen to represent his native country since Felix Magath, all the others between always chose to represent the USA. Steffi Jones is the only other one I can think of on the women's side who chose Germany over the USA.

Happy with that - new generation …

front 4 can play interchangeably all
    Over

Can stiller and pavlovic or one of them dictate the game though ? I believe defensively they would be strong - but I guess with the front 4 we have so many attacking options .

Germany midfield in the last many games has not been dominant even NIreland has walked through our midfield like it did not exist .

why is that ? What are we lacking in midfield ? Yes we do not have a Rodri but any ideas why our midfield sometimes looks so disjointed ? Is it because we play a high line ? Or do I have it wrong ???

Raum and Kimmich also push up high - yes against Lower ranked teams I guess we have to do so, wonder if we play against a Spain or so how that would look like .

where we have so much talent in midfield i have a feeling that’s where we are not that strong at the moment . Days of Schweinsteiger /khedira and Kroos was special

I understand why nagelsman wants to play kimmich in midfield as he wants a player who can dictate the game/midfield … however kimmich is not a Kroos … and Kimmich is best at RB for the NT.

so who would be able to fulfill that role next to Pavlovic?? Gross, Stiller , Bischof ? Or do we have to realise we do not have playmaker at DM and use other tactics? I suppose that’s why the front 4 has to track back to fetch the ball .

anyway would really like to hear from you guys about the status of our central / defensive midfield

Our attacking midfield is good and I think our defence is okay if we can now settle on the back 4

I am sure the World Cup due to an extra game will have squad sizes of 26 players again … so our attacking options will be sufficient. With havertz and musiala returning we have plenty of options . nagelsman need to get into World Cup mode and really get his game plan organised.

Julian needs to stop calling up random
Players he needs to settle on a squad of about 30/32 players and make it work

On rudiger : do we all think his time is up - also heard Real M won’t renew his contract . So a substitute role for him at WC?

Depends on how he comes back I guess, if he's on form he's better then Tah.

We really need guys like Bisseck and Thiaw to make the next step this season, and then moving forwards we have younger guys like Jeltsch, Gechter, Collins and maybe Odogu if he can break through at Milan who could become relevant after the WC. We need a generational shift in defence fairly soon.

    Yes.
Kindest I can be to Goretzka is by calling him a temu version of Khedira.
